Lets be clear, TSN didn't leak the memo. The league, or a owner, leaked the memo.
TSN just reported what it had been given by someone.

chriss_co said:About the league memo that TSN leaked.. i agree with all the points mentioned except for the last one
i think the PA is right when they are asking for revenue sharing from the regular season.. i think playoff revenue should be the bonus for teams that make the playoffs

in the NFL, Bonus' are covered and do count for the cap. They are added to the Contract and spread out over the length of the deal. They just have to be paid in agreement to the terms. Some players want their bonus up front. others want them at the start of each season.
but it most certianly counts against the cap. And in the NHL it should as well.

I'm beginning to think the 14 stands for his age.
Donnie D said:Teams that make the playoffs don't necessarily need the playoff revenues, the boost they get the following year should be a reward in itself. Tampa has seen its revenues go up when they began winning. Had they played, they would have seen a direct relationship - during the regular season, from winning the cup.
Anyone else see the irony in this post?FLYLine4LIFE said:Jesus your an idiot. The NHLPA have started NEGOTIATIONS by comming down from there high chair but I guess you dont see that...go listen to Burke and Bettman since you cant think for yourself.
hockeytown9321 said:But at the same time wouldn't the "rich" teams still have an unfair advantage with the bonuses? Detroit could pay a much bigger upfront bonus to a star than Calgary could, even though Detroit might have less cap room than Calgary for that particular season.

And why exactly are the players responsible for owner spending? Is there a business model out there that puts the responsibility of managing the company on the shoulders of the workers, instead of the owners?CHfan4ever said:Nothing in this system can stop the owners to spend again. And i think the luxuary taxes(25% over 45, 50% over 50 and 60% over 60%) is too small.Bettman tho reject that idea.He want HIS salary cap.
Why shouldn't the Fyers be able to buy out LeClaire to get out of that deal, as the Caps should have been able to get out of the Jagr deal? The "Garunteed contract" is actually a misnomer as only the player is garunteed anything, the team and the fans are garunteed nothing.DementedReality said:this only helps large market teams. you really want to see PHI be able to unload 9m Leclair ?
