The Jets board is no longer even talking about this....the threads are locked.

Well I guess they can all come here to say how Winnipeg is his only destination and if we get disrespectful, all we're gonna get is Postma or a handful of draft picks (but don't expect the Jets to hand over a 1st rounder now!)

I'm well aware that Hamonic for Postma is not feasible. Postma is a 3rd pairing defenseman, but a power play specialist with some upside. Just 2 years ago he was an all star RD in the AHL. He can't crack the Jets lineup, we're too deep at that position. If Postma was involved there'd be a HEAVY +++ from the Jets, a first round pick at bare minimum along with a roster player.

All I'm suggesting is that the end destination for Hamonic is Winnipeg & when it happens the trade will involve one of our three starting RD. Postma has been in the pressbox for the last two years & will remain there until Byfuglien is signed, dealt or lost to UFA.

It's clear Buff's contract status make him unattractive, Myers, in Isles fans eyes, is <Hamonic & Trouba is an "untouchable." There is however no such thing as untouchable (see Gretzky), so any Hamonic / Trouba trade will involve a + from the Isles.

Check out goal beginning at 3:15 in the above clip from the Jets last Sunday.

From the Jets perspective there's alot being asked of them. Our RD is fine. Our league worst LD is the problem. If only Travis shot left........

Back to speculating, I feel that all the talk with other teams which has occurred involves a 3 team deal.

Have you checked out our Brooklyn thread? You might really like it.

people often see in the world the way they are themselves.

Do you disagree with the viewpoint?

Calling out something that's negative or faulty doesn't make that person so.

That's rich.

At least you used the word "often", unlike our friend who spoke in absolutes.

Guys, sorry if this repeats what has already been reported ,but Friedman in his latest 30 Thoughts column said the Blues/Oilers/Isles had discussed a three way trade, and that window now looked closed now.

Anyoe hear who would have been coming to Brooklyn from St.Louis?
My thought was Shattenkirk, who the Blues are concerned with fitting into their budget ,when his deal ends in 2017.

He was a bit less firm about discussion than you are suggesting saying that "he wouldn't be surprised" if there had been discussions.

Tarasenko too much to ask for?

What if we added a sweetener? Sweeter than a 2nd rounder and even sweeter than Jeremy Colliton.........maybe......Strait?

There's so many great players to watch these days, Tarasenko is right up there.

I've come to terms with the fact that who ever we get in return I'm still going to miss the hell out of Hammer. He's a true islander and warrior. Tough SOB who wants to win and truley gives it his all.

Klefbom Trouba Brodin or whatever some team is going to be getting a damn good Defensman and person in Hammer and even if they give up a promising player I just know the fans will fall in love with Hamonic.

No body is going to be able to replace or even replicate Hamonic

Yup, it's probably gonna look like the Caps series last year...just gotta hope we get something that can be useful a couple of years from now or that Mayfield takes a quantum leap....or somehow Hammer decides to stay.

Mayfield was not that bad in the series last year. He also plays with a bite, but he is not as mobile as Hamonic.

I'm telling Hamonic today that he's going to have to wait till the end of the season unless something knocks my socks off. This team is finally rolling and I'm not disrupting it for ****.

Yeah. Other teams' fans underrate Hamonic because he's the kind of guy you really have to watch on a regular basis to truly appreciate. And that's leaving aside the character/leadership stuff that even we are probably just partially aware of. Anyone who just looks at paper is missing the point.

I became a huge Mayfield fan after the playoffs. I would love to see him get a chance in this lineup. That's why I'd be ok with getting pics/forwards. We have someone to step in, not the same player, but someone who is good.

This is also the first time I've posted after hearing everything and letting it settle in. I'm gonna say I'm irritated at him and lost respect for him if he is willing to go to other teams aside from Winnipeg. That nullifies the reasoning.

Vancouver isn't closer, Colorado isn't, Calgary isn't close, Edmonton isn't closer. If he is ok with going to those teams, there's something else to this. He just wants to be off the Islanders, but the personal line is a convenient excuse rather than stating his true issue.

If he stated, only Winnipeg, I suppose I get it. But you signed up to play pro-sports. You don't choose where you go. I love being close to my family, and I would hate the idea of being a pro athlete and being away from them all the time. He should have thought of that and held out before the draft or something.

I like the guy and he's great on the team and has done a lot in the community too. But if he's getting out of here just to go to a team "closer" to home, that's BS.

Winnipeg vs Rangers just won't mean as much.
Maybe after last night's win some of the issues will no longer be.

As was stated earlier in this thread(s); it points to the ineptitude of the management. If you knew Hammer wanted out, why wouldn't you see if your up-and-comers are able to handle the NHL load? Why wouldn't you see if your faith in the up-and-comers was viable?

If Pulock, Mayfield, Pelech prove to be viable, this opens the door for trading for a forward.

I guess they want to replace Hamonic with another capable defenseman through the trade and therefore don't see the need of bringing up one of the players you mentioned. This is a very risky strategy though, because we don't know what the Isles will get in return for Hamonic. They might have to settle for a lesser defenseman or a forward/prospect/pick.

Because we're the Islanders, and expecting good things or at least proper things is not common place.

I'd love to know what other GMs think Hamonic. All the analyst keep saying " top pairing" defensman when referring to Hamonic.

Obviously becuse of his lack of offense he's not a #1 but he does have enough offense and obviously great defensivley to be a #2.

I have high hopes for Mayfield but we'd be kidding ourselves if we think he could slide right in and assume TH's responsibilities. Hammer will be a giant loss in the short term. Hoping he plays the whole year with us, we get a nice return but the day he moves (if he goes) will be a sad day.

I love that they keep juicing him up. I'd put him as a 2/3 but hey if they keep hyping him up like this, I'll take it.

Ah, but Winnipeg vs any other team when it's sold out (and living an hour drive from home) will be a more enjoyable season for him.
