Ceci for a Tierney like player is what is considered fair value. If some other GM wants to offer us RNH instead then sure we should take that.

Ceci for RNH would be intriguing. Doubt EDM even considers it now though.

Imagine: (assuming this goes down later this year when Pageau is back)

Tkachuk-Duchene-Stone
Dzingel-RNH-White
Smith-Tierny-Ryan
Formenton-Pageau-Pyatt
Pjaarvi

Chabot-Jaros
Lajoie-Wideman
Boro-DeMelo

I think this would be a very predictable trade until they found out RNH scores at a PPG pace or better when flanking McDavid. Which surprisingly isn’t that common.

What you talking about? Ceci almost returned hart trophy winner Hall before Melnyk allegedly nixed it and Boedker was the cornerstone in a deal for perennial almost 30 goal and 20 posts man Hoffman. That's a suh-weet deal.
Edm preferred Larsson over ceci (who wouldn't)

Stop making stuff up

Waited way too long to trade Ceci. Had an opportunity to get Hall or Drouin and Dorion blew it. Worst GM in the league.

Sucks but we're stuck with him. Nobody is going to take a bad backup making over 5 mil these next two years. He's a buyout candidate in the summer imo.

I wouldn't rule out Carolina. They've got a bit of a carousel going on this year and last.

I wonder if Chiarelli would be interested in Ceci

Ceci + Ryan for RNH + Lucic

Add a prospect or pick from our side

Formenton Duchene Dzingel
Tkachuk RNH Stone
Lucic Tierney White
Paajarvi Smith Boedker

It’s sad to say but I’d rather hang on to Ryan than take on Lucic.

Ryan should just be bought out this summer imo. I’m pretty sure the team saves a fair amount by doing that at that point.

Also Ceci for RNH is definitely interesting, but it kinda blocks the opportunity for Chlapik/Brown/White to win that 2C spot.

Ceci won't get you RNH and Lucic has an NMC .. doubt he waives to come here.. His contract is worse than Ryan's and Ryan in his moments is better

I don't think they'd do a Ryan/Lucic swap, even as part of a bigger trade.

Ceci for RNH is some shape or form would be great, especially if we cannot re-sign Duchene.

Even if we're trading Duchene, I don't think that's the direction our team is going in though. I think they'd rather roll with a combination of Tierney/Pageau/Chlapik/White/Brown/Smith down the middle for the next 2-3 years than trade for RNH who they are both going to have to pay 6M per season for right now, and then trade for futures 2 years from now anyways when he is 28 and looking for what with cap inflation will probably be a 7M+ AAV type contract.

I think we'd rather get back a young player with a lot of RFA years, or a futures based package. Whether we could get a 1st+, I don't know.

Ceci was never going to land either player. Come on dude.
And how do you know this? The two worst GM’s in the league making a trade and Chiarelli didn’t do that much better getting Larsson.

Edmonton Oilers GM Peter Chiarelli was willing to move Taylor Hall for Cody Ceci, TSN's Dreger reports. Hmmmm

Senators won't part with Cody Ceci in deal for Jonathan Drouin - Sportsnet.ca

Yeah, Ceci had value but we waited way too long to trade him and everybody knows he sucks now.

Even if we could trade Ceci for RNH, i can't see it happening. This team adding any kind of salary seems like a pipe dream, not even a couple mil is going to happen.

If anything we have more shedding yet to come before we get back to adding anything.

Edm chose to go with Larsson who is better
