Interesting discussion on the D side then. Chabot, Brannstrom and Wolanin. Who else needs protection? Jaros, JBD ? Boro et al can go

Brannstrom and JBD will be exempt.

The expansion draft is two full seasons away so it's hard to project what our list will be like, but as of now the locks are:

Tkachuk
White
Batherson
Brown
Chabot

Pretty safe to assume that Ryan and Zaitsev will be exposed. The rest of the slots depend on who sticks around [Tierney, Pageau, Duclair, DeMelo, Connor Brown], who develops into a player worth protecting [Balcers, Wolanin, Jaros, Hogberg, Gustavsson, Lajoie], and what ever other players are acquired.

Just want to send a thumbs up to the Raptors for being so classy in Kawhi going to LA - no hard feelings, no back talk, no blame, no fear - just straight up respect and maturity. Sens could learn so much from this

While I agree the Sens have a lot to learn in professionalism, just to play devils advocate here, I think it’s way easier for fans and the organization to be mature and respectful after just winning the championship. I think they would be singing a much different tune had the just lost in the finals instead.

Class comes from leadership and maturity, it doesn't come because of accolades, it just always is with certain people and never will be with others. It's a mindset not a temporary feeling

The point he was making is that you only truly know how classy a person or an org is when you see it face adversity. You don't gain it from accolades, this is true, but you can be exposed as not having any when faced with adversity.

Just to be clear, that's not to say the raptors aren't or didn't act classy.

Very realistic possibility that 3 of those players in your list are playing elsewhere by this time frame as well.

What could be more adversity then losing your star player and the most loved athlete in the country? Just like Alfie, Raptors showed a completely different level of respect and standards then Ottawa did with the rumours of drunken phone calls and panic trade.

Well, like the other poster said, doing that after coming up short of winning the championship instead of coming off winning it. I thought that pretty straight forward.

There's also a pretty big difference between a legacy player that you drafted who you never thought you'd ever have any trouble signing and would retire a Sen vs a guy picked up in a trade to shake up the team and put the them over the top that's only been there for one season and you knew you might have a hard time re-signing when he was traded for.

Not sure who you are referring to as being disrespected on the way out by the organization

differnce in what sense? Alfie was a god in this city to everyone and did more for the franchise then anyone in the history of the Senators since the franchise came into existance - if you can't show him respect then you can't show anyone respect. Alfie played for like 700K his final season, the 7th dMan made more then him - that alone deserves some recognistion from the franchise - instead they lied to cover up their weakenesses and it started what we see today.

Careful. We want to add character, and we want to insulated the kids from the pressure of losses and blame.

We do NOT really want to get any better. Unless it’s our kids breaking out, we really need to keep on pretending to try to be competitive, while actually looking to arrive at the bottom of the league again.

After letting all of the better UFA players go, the Senators should have little problem getting to the bottom again.

Would fabulous if we could have traded for Hosea. Then he plays one last game in our throwback jersey game. I’d attend that.

It's a little easier when you've just won a championship!

Why the hell did Lebanc just sign for 1 million? I understand signing for 1 year and betting on yourself but for 1 million? What’s going on?

Does anyone know if the upcoming expansion draft protection #'s are still the same? ie. 6-3-1/4-4-2 or whatever it was?

Pretty sure he didn't have arb rights, so he was pretty limited in what he could do.

Dougie Wilson strong arms his way into a deal again. The things I'd do to get this guy to take the Sens POHO job...
