I think its reasonable that usually means Winnipeg fans wont though

I think there is no doubt about it. Goes both ways, though.

If they insisted on Domi, then it's not Laine we'd be after, but Connor.

Pretty sure the ask is Domi, I was known 1-2 months ago that the Jets really wanted Domi from MTL.

Domi for Laine is something I would think about, but the problem is Laine mindset

I wouldn’t trade Domi nor KK. If a deal can be done using other assets, then explore it and if not, I’d move on.

Suzuki and Petry fit the bill.

Obviously there would be other components but they could be in there to meet their needs.

Do we really want to know what the Habs defence would look like without Petry? Juulsen, Fleury, and Brook aren't able to carry a pairing on their own.

The team would need to be fully prepared to tank this year IMO if they chose that route.

If Juulsen shows some amazing things in the camp and pre-season we could see a trade involving Petry + center prospect for Laine

only IF Juulsen is ready to take top 4 role ( IDC about doing the playoffs this year, I want 1 more top 10 prospect and we are good)

OS still an option for Laine. $10.5M x 5 costs 2 1sts...

1-2 of Byron, Armia, Lehkonen, Weise, Alzner would have to go to accommodate.

Just saying...

Pretty easy match for Winnipeg I'd think. They'd have to move one of Perrault, Kulikov, Ehlers to make it happen.

Depends. Would you lose Laine if Petry was a must-add?

Could there be a deal with the Jets, than involves Ehlers?? This is where MB could be kicking tires...
Imo jets need a 2nd line center or top 4 rhd that is still fairly young. If they dont get that, maybe a Drouin for Ehlers swap makes sense.

I'm all for it value-wise, it's rare that a scorer like Laine is said to be available. However, the hole at defense would sink the team unless young players really progressed or Price had another Hart trophy season.

Ideally, you’d want one of the young players ready to step in.

But, you know how that goes — sometimes you have a chance at an amazing player and you can miss out for not being a little more flexible. Get Laine while you can, deal with the Petry fallout afterwards.

Can you imagine us in 2-3 years with Laine + Caufield scoring left and right ? holy ****ing hell we would be a real scoring threat
Losing 6-4 or 7-5 sounds so much better then what we’re doing now. If that doesn’t make us a playoff contender I don’t know what will.

Then Price will just lose it, demand a trade and then the team’s downward death spiral builds momentum.

Offer sheet Laine, they will match. Circle back and offer sheet Connor. They can't keep both.

Yes they can.

They currently have 15M left so sign Laine and Connor so even if we offersheet both at 10M each, they just need to trade 1 player like Kulivov/Perreault/Ehlers and they are fine.

Btw I wouldn't want anything to do with Connor at 10M.

Good idea but I have my doubts Bergevin would be OSing a team managed by one of his best buds.

OSing Dundon was easy — a lot of owners don’t like him.

I don't think he's as good as people seems to think, he's not a 10M player IMO.

I would go up to 7.5M but not much more then that...

Only know he scores a fair amount, owns speed and size. What part of his game is deficient?
