hard to say but he might have alot of weight to move this summer. Wonder if he is thinking moving Savard if he can't unload JE?
Hughes doesn't need to move anyone with term this deadline or this summer. Habs are freeing plenty of cap space via the UFAs leaving to resign the RFAs.

It would be great to move Eddy to free a spot at LD, but the team will have the same D as this season if he doesn't and one of the LD will just play RD + rotation and Wideman as the 7th/8th D.

If we're going to get a second or third round pick for ED I would hold on to until next year and roll the dice again
Really? Interesting.

It's the opposite for me, if a team is willing to send the Habs a 2nd or 3rd, he's outta here.

It's worth it just to take his money off the books and give space for the other numerous LHDs that will have to play their RHD next year if he's not moved.

Feel likes Hughes held out trading our guys thinking the offers would increase and now teams have moved on and made their moves already
I think no one really was interested. A lot of the players moved are better than Drouin/Hoffman/Armia/Pitlick/etc. Feel like if anything, teams will start to circle back to Montreal now that nothing is really left. Doesn't help the biggest value players (Monahan/Edmundson) both injury prone with ton of missed games leading up to the deadline. Bergevin special gift to the team.

Feel like HuGo won't trade Edmundson and will rather wait next season to trade him as a rental if they don't get offered what they want (which I assume would be at least a 2nd round pick), hoping he bounces back. But even if he doesn't and continues playing like this, his value as a rental should be slightly higher (maybe like a 3rd round pick on name + size value).

Honestly not expecting much movement - maybe Drouin if a team bites.

The main reason would be more to free up roster spots rather than clear cap space. Assuming we sign our RFAs, we have 15 forwards signed next year and 9 D.

We then have guys like Farrell, Beck, Heineman, Roy and even Norlinder/Beaudin who can push for a roster spot if they have strong camps next year.

Seriously? Maybe I don't know how AHL playoffs work as I see 4 teams well ahead of them in the North Division and 7 teams in the Atlantic. How many teams make the playoffs from their conference? More than 8?

5 teams make the playoffs in the North Division.

The 4th and 5th placed teams play each other in a Best-of-3. The winner faces the 1st place team in the second round. Meanwhile, the 2nd and 3rd placed teams play each other in the second round.

So as things stand now, Laval would face Rochester in a Best-of-3 and the winner would face Toronto in the 2nd round. Meanwhile, Utica would face Syracuse.

So 5 from the North as well? Laval is 4 points away from being the worst team in their conference

The market and fanbases seem to want size and grit right now.

Eller goes for the same price as two small guys on pace for 60 points (Granlund and Domi). And both fanbases bemoaned the Domi and Granlund acquisitions!

Makes you wonder what kind of offers Hughes has turned down to keep Josh Anderson here.

You might be right.....but the rumors that he had to play last night for some team to move and the everybody talking like he mostly gone for sure, not so sure he won't be traded.

This is a player that's always intrigued me but it seems he's never put it quite together.
Hughes & Guerin are good buddies & Greenway ideally would complement Suzuki / Caufield tandem, allowing Grurianov to slot w Dach

All in an ideal world…

Honestly I would much rather keep him, as he has more value for us that way (in that he is a hell of a tank commander). So I hope that's not the case and that his play last night convinced GMs to not trade for him.

My crazy expectation Trade that could happen today, it's been really quiet around the Habs, It's been really quiet around the islanders. Yet the islanders have what's been noted as $7,3 or something in cap space. Could see them try and make a trade for both Anderson and Edmunson for 2024 1st, and a couple good prospects

Norlinder/Beaudin are not going to be pushing for a roster spot next season, that would mean they are better than Guhle, Harris, Barron and Xhekaj. It's not the vets blocking D prospects for a roster spot, it's other prospects.

Habs have to purge their RFAs/prospects they don't want this off-season thought. They need contract slots to sign prospects with expiring rights and contract that aren't sliding anymore because of player age. But that's not done at the deadline, it's done at the draft.
