Sitting at a desk.
You give to get.
Nylander is only non futures asset of interest to NY.
You want depth, which is OP premise, you pay.
If not, fine, stick w/what you have and continue to likely fail.

Buch + for Nyl has long been a premise.
? is what is the ?.
Fox is a non starter and on his own is worth more than Nylander, who is talented, but some argue soft.

See above.
OP premise about need for Leafs to get real and provide depth is being ignored.
You grossly undervalue Buch, and to lesser extent Howden and even DiG.

Buch + for Nylander has never been a premise.

Would you trade Mika for that?

Also, ignore the people trolling with the Laf comments. He's not a bust, he will be fine.

LAF may turn out just fine but its been a rough start for him..some of these kids come in right away and dominate, he isnt one.. he is a few years away yet

I mean it’s only been like 6 games. He could still finish the year strong.
He could do fine this season yes but he isnt ready to dominate for a bit yet... you look back on guys like crosby ovie , they had it from day one.. he is going to have to grow into that on the nHL level.

Whats the benefit for Toronto here? We significantly downgrade at forward and pick up a prospect while trying to contend.

Not the type of D Toronto would covet regardless. Edmonton doesn't have anything they'd want, that would be reasonably available for Nylander. Nylander doesn't go for anything less than a top 4 young D. Oilers hardly have those types in spades.

Something around McCann for Dermott?
Hmmm don't think... with all this coming down in the last few days , it may be a rebuild despite what the pres says.. after last night game in Boston you would think something is gonna give. Dont be surprised if rust and zucker are unloaded before the season ends. Both would good especially rust on Toronto

Bryan Rust would be a fantastic addition to Toronto

That's an unreasonably high bar.

Buch has "long been a premise" because you make 50 f***ing threads a week trying to pawn your shit players off on Toronto.

Your team, not me, created its own top heavy cap hell structure.
Your team, not me, overpaid Tavares knowing it would need mega mils for Mat.+Marn.
Nylander is to a large extent the only trade asset you have who is both affordable and desirable.
None of that is on me.

That is besides you overvalue Nyl. He is what he is, no more, no less.
He is a speedy offensive gifted F. He is not elite, and that is what TOR wish to view him as, which is fine, but it distorts his actual trade value.

Buch is not as good as Nylander. No one said he was.
However, he would be a great piece for replacement in a deal.
The ? is if teams could agree on what else would have to be added, assuming that can fit now in tight cap environment.

Leafs want like Kravtsov + Miller/Nils L to get elcs to get out of their cap hell. No.
Send Nylander to us for fair value in currency acceptable to Rangers, or choke on him.
Get real.

How are they in cap hell? The Leafs aren't trying to unload contracts so the entire premise of your post is absurd.

It’s too bad Rutherford quit or he could give Dubas another first round pick to assist Dubas in shedding salary.
