One of the things that I figure kind of curious is that the league's legal counsel did not step in or at least review the decision. The next McSorely/Bertuzzi/Simon incident is coming with Wilson eventually. He has repeatedly showed an inability to control himself. When that incident happens, the victim (whether it is warranted or not) will be able to point to this exactly like this (and this will likely be exhibit A) as to why the league was negligent and they will walk away with millions.
For the DOPS and the League, this was an extremely negligent decision to allow to happen. The discussion that should be happening is if how many games he got was correct, not the fact that there were essentially no repercussions, especially after a 7 game suspension he had earlier.
This was wrong for the league on several levels.
