1) Buchnevich was never "kicking at goalie" (sic)

2) Even if he wasn't that doesn't justify Wilson's act.

I love seeing the mental gymnastics one has to go through to ignore obvious things that happened on video. If this were Kadri a few years ago, the amount of close up video clips and breakdowns you'd have piled up and ready would be vomit-inducing.

Is this supposed to be convincing?

A punch to back shoulder in a scuffle with a player in goalies area? Happens every game.

... yes. Wilson crossed the line - but that’s why he got a 10 game misconduct.

panarin jumped on Wilson’s back with his stick around Wilson’s neck - while being the third man in. Wilson defended himself and it’s not Wilson’s fault panarin was so stupid he went after him and got thrown around like a ragdoll. You don’t start fights if the person can beat you up easily.

It was a punch to buch's head while he was face down on the ice with another cap on top of him. When panarin grabbed Wilson, he was busy rabbit punching strome while strome was wrestling with another cap, technically making Wilson 3rd man in. Then Wilson pulled panarin's hair while slew footing him to the ice. Multiple suspendable cowardly acts from Wilson and a whole bunch of pretzel logic and garbage takes poorly attempting to defend him.

I think when someone takes out Backstroms or Carlssosn knee then skates to the Capital bench to tell the coaching staff why, it might work in reigning in Wilson. If Backstrom is out for the year on a stretcher because of Wilson it might change the Capitals tune a bit.

Wilson gets away with it because the NHL has too many cowards who won’t go old school to send a message. I am not really an advocate for purposely injuring someone, but Wilson crosses the line with no repercussions at all. Sometimes you have to use your opponents tactics against them.

A punch at end of scuffle with guys helmet on and wilsons glove on after guy is kicking at goalie - isn’t that bad.

panarin jumped at Wilson and put his stick around his neck amd started the fight... while being third man in.

mess with fire you get burned. People have right to defend themselves. Next time hopefully
Panarin has better hockey IQ.

No you don't have to body slam a guy like that who doesn't have his helmet on. Dangerous and he does dumb things like this repeatedly that not only is he a liability to hurt someone else someone and is also a liability to get hurt himself from all the dumb things he's done. None of the caps fans will be happy to see that happen to him or what about one of his teammates? Suspend him and get him to think about the dumb things he does and take it down a notch or two. He can still be a pain in the ass to play against without the dumb shit he does.

One of the things that I figure kind of curious is that the league's legal counsel did not step in or at least review the decision. The next McSorely/Bertuzzi/Simon incident is coming with Wilson eventually. He has repeatedly showed an inability to control himself. When that incident happens, the victim (whether it is warranted or not) will be able to point to this exactly like this (and this will likely be exhibit A) as to why the league was negligent and they will walk away with millions.

For the DOPS and the League, this was an extremely negligent decision to allow to happen. The discussion that should be happening is if how many games he got was correct, not the fact that there were essentially no repercussions, especially after a 7 game suspension he had earlier.

This was wrong for the league on several levels.

I've always said that the absolute worst aspect of Wilson (and a clear-cut sign that he is a sociopath) is his regular willingness to laugh at injuring someone.

Let’s not gloss over how incredibly pathetic and embarrassing it is for a professional athlete to do this under these types of circumstances.

Scuffles where players punch at players faces around the goalie net? Literally every other nhl game.

That’s not a suspendible play. It’s roughing.

Not on players already limp face down on the ice...

Also the shit about Panarin was the third man in is such a false narrative. Actually Wilson is the third man in since Strome is already tied up with Dowd. Panarin is going in the equal it out. Sheesh

I don't know why people are susprised Wilson didn't get suspended, nothing he did warranted any games. All you can do is what if's, if Panarin slammed his head against the ice. I think Wilson intended to injure, but DOPS is always swayed by resulting injuries and Panarin's was only lower body.

This was way worse by a Caps player against Malkin, no suspension

Shawn Thornton, 2013.

Zack Kassian, 2020.
Both of those are completely different situations than what happened here.

Thornton grabbed Orpik from behind, kicked his legs out from underneath him and then punched him directly in the face multiple times.

Kassian did more than throw Tkachuk to the ground and he wasn't suspended for throwing him down. He was suspended for being the aggressor towards an unwilling combatant because of the multiple punches.

There's punches like that in goal mouth scrums all the time and no calls for a suspension. Muzzin did something similar to Mantha and wasn't suspended despite injuring Mantha and people are shocked there's no suspension on this play?
