Miettinen is killing me. He doesn't deserve to be singled out as a non producer tonight, but I was watching his game pretty closely tonight.

Most parts of his game are pretty good. He's not a defensive liability at all. He has good legs. He gets into the corners well. He's a smart player in that he anticipates and gets into the right spots at the right time. He's so-so at the transition game.

But his hands turn into bricks when it comes to passing or shooting in the offensive zone. Kane deserves better puck handlers than Miettinen and Jokinen or Antropov as linemates.

It would be interesting to see Kane playing with Little and Wheeler for a couple of games while Ladd goes to line 2.

I believe Noel has brow beaten the creativity out of him. They should trade him. He'll probably not get a real shot on this team, he seems to be in Noel's doghouse VERY easily. Meanwhile the 'Stallion' can throw half a dozen pizza's up a night and still get 24 mins a game. It's something I struggle to understand.

Burmi does hold on the puck too long. I hope he gets past it, but he would likely be in a similar spot on any team. And there is a huge and I mean HUGE difference playing 3rd line sheltered minutes and being the shut down d-man facing the Nash's, E.Staal's and Crosby's of the world night after night. Sometimes all you can do is get the puck from a bad spot to a less bad spot.

LOL at this thread. I'm upset with the team right now but this is pure comedy.

The team just needed to remind us that we are a bubble team. We are not a true top seed.

Also the season is not over, just FYI. I give us about a 50/50 shot right now of making the playoffs.

Funny that, for a bubble team.

It's not like the team can go out to the backyard and shake the "hockey tree" for more players. And who would you suggest that the Jets should have signed last year?

Should have signed Parentau over Jokinen (he's younger, signed for less per year, and filled a bigger need at RW). Also I would have let Wellwood walk and kept Scheifele. I shared that opinion here last summer so it's not hindsight bias.

Wow......just because this team has lost three in a row and now its time to sell every thing we have. People just have to stay patient, the Jets are still in playoff contention and are still 4 points up. Would be nice to see a few wins coming up and that shouldn't hurt the standings either.

We're assuming that Chevy didn't try for PA Parenteau first and Parenteau went to Col in the same way that Schultz went to Edmonton.

6 teams are 2 or more games under .500 ,Philadelphia -2, Buffalo-4 , TB-3 , Calgary-3 , Colorado -7and Florida-8. Winnipeg is plus 1.

We lose tomorrow we are .500 and then play Montreal Thursday and the dreaded afternoon game against Philadelphia on Saturday . Washington plays Carolina tomorrow which means one of them gets 2 points , and maybe the other gets 1 point.

Things could very very different by 5 on Saturday...

i had to go outside with my dogs and take a few minutes before responding to this. I take it you're serious by the posting of the stats.

If the Jets had signed Parise to a 13 year $98M contract, and all he had to show for it was 30 points (15G 15A) in 34 games, there would be 100 people accosting Noel during games (referencing the unfortunate incident wherein the fan wearing a Bruins jersey accosted the Jets bench last week). There would be crosses brured on Chevy's front lawn, and fans showing up to games with tar and feathers waiting to get Parise on a rail out of town.

No matter what the Jets management does this off season, it will not be enough, and it will be second guessed for all eternity.

The only way some of the fans here would be happy was if they signed Sid Crosby for $1 a year, and traded Thorburn for the entire Black Hawks roster, and then they would complain of the Jets lost a game.

Patience. The team is not going to be improved by adding Kulda, nor is Trouba or Lowry or Scheifele going to make this team a legitimate threat to win the cup. BUT, they are all part of the long term plan, because you cannot fix the dreck that we got from Atlanta in one year.

Do you "fans" believe that this team is a legitimate contender? Do you believe that there's any better way to go about this? Do you honestly believe that the other 29 teams are waiting for the Jets to call before they listen to any other offers? Do you believe that Chevaldayoff turned down players like Suter or Parise just because?

Get a grip.

Agreed. I had the Jets mentally pegged as an 8th/9th seed, so when I saw a certain online casino had them coming off at a staggering 450:100 against to make the playoffs (which breaks even at 22.22%) I put the maximum I could get online during one day. In the five minutes it took me to do that and get money on it, the line had already been pounded down to 4:1, and was 250:100 by the end of the day.

From the start of the year even until right now I feel quite happy that I've got value for my money. I'll feel a LOT HAPPIER if they pull it out, of course (free Vegas trip for my birthday sounds about right..), but all I see is a team making the most (arguably even overachieving a hair) with what they have. The frustration, the aggravation, the ups and downs, sweating the trade deadline.. all part of the thrill, part of the plan.

I'm not sure what's so funny. I know some people are negative on certain players but this is what happens in every team's losing GDT. Everyone tries to figure it out. No big deal....

I think the number one thing that grinds my gears is if I see the exact same issues, game after game after game.

Still I'm one of the few that doesn't think we need trade 97.3% of the team.

Plus there's no way in hell I'm not cheering for the team 100% and I do so at all games.... BUT I do warn that my fear of Jets 1.0 lingers in my mind. All those games watching so many visiting jerseys in our stands made me wanna puke. I hope we never go back to that.

I know it always ends up coming back around to Ladd-Little-Wheeler but seriously now, this line hasn't done a damn thing in 5 games straight, switch it up.

Sigh. This book about Mittens was penned back in Minnesota.

I don't get what this guy does to con coaches that he's even an adequate stopgap on the 2nd line. At least guys like Antropov, Burmi and even Wellwood have flashed some proficiency in that role. Miettinen is a 25-30 point, 3rd line player who basically cobbled together some 40+ point seasons in the past due to a combination of great linemates and sheer luck. His vision sucks, his shot sucks, his net presence is next to zero.

And what's funny, I actually really like him as a player. I will cheer so hard for him when he's finally used in a proper role, on a good team's 3rd line.

Perhaps PA Parenteau spurned the Jets? Perhaps Jokinen was the only player that responded positively? We have no idea who Chevaldayoff contacted, nor would he divulge that information.

And Scheifele wasn't able to play effectively on the third line playing some sheltered shifts - he wouldn't be playing any better than the bottom 3 or 4 players at this point, and then you'd all be screaming that the Jets shouldn't have rushed him.

Can't. Frickin'. Win.

I'd almost rather just bomb the rest of the season and get a top ten pick.

two things kill us. power play, and poor line construction/adjustments. How long do we continue the failed jokinen/mittens/kane line? kane scores most with antro and burmi. Plug one of them in the middle, and either keep mittens or replace him with wellwood. No, it's not a great 2nd line, but it'll produce more than what this joke of a 2nd line has done.
But both items boil down to coaching. I've not been a Noel hater, but I don't understand the stubbornness.

Okay then what is the golden answer for a waiver-wire Grant Clitsome getting top-pairing time, Antti Miettinen getting top 6 time, Eric Tangradi doing nothing and getting 10-15 minutes per game?

With decisions like that how can you blame people for wishing that Mark Scheifele was playing on this team? He's clearly a class above in the OHL.

I'd rather the Jets play like they're trying to win instead of the half-hearted efforts we've been treated to the past few games.

Yeah, well I'd take that, but if you can't get up to play against Car or this game, I'm not going to hold my breath.
