Accidents happen every single day. Accidents that are so unlikely you wouldn't believe they could possibly happen. Every now and then one happens involving something famous, and we all ask "How could this possibly happen?"

On an unrelated note, this freshwater planted tank has been wildly successful. Kind of a nice view from my bed:

If there's any bright side, it looks like the extent of the damage isnt as bad as first feared. The roof and spire are a total loss, sadly. Too early to know what art may have been destroyed, as well as some early Christian relics.

1.5 hour flight to Montreal
13.5 hour flight straight to Tokyo

Gonna have to wear sweatpants for that one.

Apparently some people are quite upset that the wealthy (mostly) French are contributing to the reconstruction of Notre Dame.

I'm having a hard time wrapping my mind around that one. I wouldn't have been bothered one bit if Bloomberg, Gates, Buffett, the Koch's, etc, etc, etc, etc, etc, ponied up to rebuild 1WT.

I know I'm neglecting plenty of the details and nuance of what it took to accomplish rebuilding downtown in that last sentence, but I sure as hell wouldn't be throwing people (or citizens at least) under the bus for raising nearly $1B days after a national tragedy.

So it goes.
