Who do you guys use for auto insurance? My policy with Liberty Mutual just went up over 30% and they said it's just because of more claims in Nj. No tickets, claims, accidents, nothing on my behalf. Looking for cheaper premiums, Geico sent me a quote so far that I'm comfortable with.

I had Geico, now I use State Farm.

I used SF initially because they had great renters rates. Then Geico pissed me off (long story) so I bundled auto with SF. Bought a house and stayed bundled with them. Haven't had a problem...

YET.

Consumer Reports like Amica for NJ. My father loves Amica but I think he has an umbrella policy.

I HATE THEIR COMMERCIALS!!!

They're the ones who treat the customer like they're morons who have no fundamental understanding of how insurance works.

I used GEICO for about 7 years at a reasonable rate, then they tried to jump me about 20% on renewal, so I went to Progressive instead for 6 months for cheap, which then tried to jump me about 30% upon my first renewal - so I went BACK to GEICO, who offered me the same insurance I originally had with them for even cheaper than my original policy.

Net/net, if you're not calling around 3 or 4 different major auto insurance companies once every 2 years, you're probably pissing a good sum of money down the privy.

+1 for Amica.

i work in insurance and I don't understand how it works...

I don't get how multiple companies providing identical coverage for the same thing can vary so much in their premiums. Or how Company A can increase their premiums by 30%+ without any tickets, claims, etc.

Many companies include your credit score and income in their calculations. Did you have a major ding in it recently?

Was just informed today that the company is going to start paying my cell phone bill because I'm going to be traveling and will have to use it during those times. Considering I'm rarely called outside of working hours for anything work related, that's a nice perk.

Be careful. You are giving them access to a LOT of your personal information which they could use against you.

To be safer, ask for a company phone which you only use for work.

Just a tip for all of you guys regarding insurance. About 10 years ago I switched to an insurance agent. Essentially the agent finds me the best rates they can and informs me and does all the dirty work, they even call me during the year to switch policies if they’ve found a better option. Basically I don’t use the major insurance companies and I save literally half what I would normally pay every year. The customer service is still great and the premiums just as low as the big boys. I really feel like your just paying 2x for your auto insurance to help pay for their advertising and in some cases celebrity endorsements.

Holy crap. I had an eye exam today at 1:00pm and for 4 hours after everything was blurry. Horrible experience. That was my ever comprehensive eye exam and my last.

And the doctor pissed me off...she goes "Your vision is remarkable for your age". I had to bite my tongue

I appreciate the concern, but I'm no too worried about it. They likely aren't going to get me a work cell, and I have nothing to hide.

Because algorithms.

I feel certain that one of those algorithms is to jack customers who've been with them a long time for no other reason than they think you're unlikely to switch. Cable TV & internet definitely work like that.

That was my ever comprehensive eye exam and my last.

Are you saying this was your first ever eye exam?

Since you haven't been to an eye doctor since Moby Dick was a minnow, you were most likely given the strongest power dilation drops they have so they could see deep into the back of your eye, including the retina and all the blood vessels, vitreous fluid, all that crap. They did exactly what they should. You only get one pair of eyes, it's wise to keep them healthy.

Just don’t text anything you wouldn’t say out loud. My friend jot jammed up for personal texts on his own phone. All over the newspapers a few years ago...good times for him

Yeah "first" time. And that was the last part of the exam, dilation drops... then they shot a lightsaber into my eye. I saw those flashes of light for nearly an hour after the exam.

I squirmed in the seat the entire time. I was in the doctors office for nearly 3 hours. Horrible stuff.

"your vision is remarkable for your age" my ass.

I think it's more remarkable you managed to escape with your eyesight intact after that sham of an exam.

Blast from the past! I haven’t thought about that Alice in Wonderland video since it probably first came out. Who was the artist that would use the big overweight humans that almost looked like claymation or cgi for their time but I’m fairly confident it was actual practical effects and makeup. I believe they used these same people over multiple videos but it always reminds me of the Killer Clowns from Mars movie.
I don't really recall the video's that you're referring to. Maybe If I saw one or someone else knew, it would come back to me. I remember Tool had a few video's with claymation people, but they weren't real people.

That Mary Jane video looks like something Tim Burton would do. The house that he comes out of, looks like something from a Tim Burton movie.
But their commercials take it to a whole other level

And if I hear that girl yell, "YOU LOVED BRAD" one more time, I will scream.
I HATE that commercial! Can't stand that girl, because she reminds me of a friend's girlfriend (they're actually married now) that I just didn't like. I mean, she was okay, but was really immature and would act obnoxious sometimes. She wrote on the back of my check when we all went out to dinner "I like cock" one of the first times I ever met her. She's not a terrible person, but she's kind of odd. That commercial is one of those ones that they show for years, and then it will go off and they'll bring it back again.

Just experienced the best and worst of this new format.

The bad is that it makes my computer run like trash, but a lot of sites make my computer run like trash. It froze up on my as I was typing that last post.

The good thing is that when I grabbed my phone, everything o had typed on my computer was already saved and I just had to finish the post.

That's pretty sweet, but I prefer posting on a computer than a phone. Unless I'm at work. I don't really like typing more than two sentences max when I'm on a phone.

Yeah, that's pretty ridiculous. It's just like social media though. If they want to get dirt on you, they will find a way.

Sounds like your being vague for obvious reasons, but can you give a little bit more details? Sounds interesting.
