Wasn’t he a FB?
He was sort of both but played a couple games as the starting RB in place of Bettis while he was here. We had a full time FB at the time. His name is escaping me right now, though.

Dan Kreider

Fu was definitely a mix of the two, but we primarily used him as HB. Not a lot of FB runs in our playbook of that era (Kreider's career high in rushing attempts was 7  ).

Which one? Tim Lester or Jon Witman? Oops I forgot about Kreider.

There's definitely a part of me that misses the classic FB in modern football. Partially because it was nice being able to nab the best blocking FB in college whenever we needed to because nobody else was still using the FB position that way...

I know. I miss the classic fullback as well. I think it could still work, especially with the prevalence of the two tight end looks. Plus it was always so nice to get a guy who was an All Pro for free.

My god next yrs road games are brutal...

Away - GB, KC, BUF, MIN, LAC
Home - DET, TEN, DEN, LV, CHI

On top of our cap situation and losing a ton of guys.

I'm thinking 8-8 next yr at best.

If the league approves the 17 game schedule add Seattle to that list.

A lot of pessimism about the new schedule. I would feel comfortable betting on wins against Chicago, Denver, Detroit, Las Vegas, Tennessee, Los Angeles, and Minnesota. Sweep Bengals, split with Ravens and Browns. 10-6? Even though they lost to the Bills I personally am not too scared of them like KC or GB.

On a side note re the 2021 draft, I don't think Harris makes it to the Steelers anymore. I think he's the Dolphins target at 18 if he doesn't go earlier than that.

I mean I'm cool with any of Najee, Etienne, Javonte Williams.

But ya Najees stock is rising fast and has most likely overtaken Etienne as the top back taken.

is Haden and Ebron out for next game or is that still to be determined?

Probably both out.
Per NFL Covid Rules:
Following a positive test, if the player is asymptomatic, he can return once:
  • 10 days have passed since the initial positive test; OR
  • Five days have passed since the initial positive test and the player receives two consecutive negative PCR virus tests at least 24 hours apart within that five-day period
Following a positive test, if the player demonstrates symptoms, he can return when:
  • At least 10 days have passed since symptoms first appeared; AND
  • At least 72 hours have passed since he last experienced symptoms

i think Ebron was a close contact though and not a positive test, and he should be available unless he tests positive

There is no way the Steelers should be taking a RB in the first round. Doesn't matter how good any of them are if the Offensive line is crap. Steelers need to go OL, preferably LT.

Running backs can be found in later rounds.

If they hire the right head coach it might not be as slanted as it was a few years ago

As discussed yesterday, I'm of a mixed mind if they will. On the one hand, the Chargers job is arguably the best available one out there (along with JAX). A stud franchise QB in the making. Weapons at all the offensive skill positions. Pretty good cap situation. The situation is ripe to have your pick of coaches. At the same time . . . Dean Spanos.

The way the Bills are playing right now, they have a great chance to knock off the Chiefs.

Packers vs Bills is my prediction too. And it would be fun to watch as they are the 2 best offenses in the league. May even break the scoring record for a SB.
