He was much better than guys like Pettit and Stewart. Actually had some skill in addition to skating ability. Shame.

Canucks couldn't have signed him so really it's not a big deal.

FYI Roster has been updated for anyone that did not notice.

WE'VE GOT A BLOMSTRAND SIGHTING.

(Abols, Martin, Gardiner, Whistle cut)
Good to see Blomstrand there. If he isn't given a good shot at cracking the Comets this season it would probably make sense for him to go back to Sweden.

heck

Aaaand he's wrong.

Bonino and Matthias were both top 12. Richardson and Kassian would also easily be top 12 if they didn't miss a good chunk of games.

He can't even get simple facts right.

It's close enough.

Sutter=Bonino
Richardson & Kassian are could have, should have, would have... fact is they DIDN'T. Zach was a healthy scratch and Richardson's spot is being taken by Horvat. Is that an issue?

Honestly, the lengths some will go to pile on JB's shortcomings is impressive. There is enough real material out there that inventions are not needed.

Obviously goalscoring will be a question mark until proven otherwise - Horvat, Baertschi, Vey and maybe Virtanen, you know all that untested youth that guy Benning is hell bent on inserting into the lineup.;)

does this mean Prust took Zack's #9?

Hopefully Baertschi sticks on the 2nd. Benning did correct McKenzie about Sven, not Vey, replacing Matthias. Makes all kinds of sense. Playmaking winger, presumably mistakes prone, to compliment Sutter and Vrbata/Burrows. Then Zach's 3rd line contribution will be taken up by either Higgins or Hansen on the triple H line. Best case scenario is that Virtanen impresses enough and merrits stints on the 3rd, but that's probably wishful thinking this early. Also Prust played up and down Habs' lineup so reasonable to assume he'll do the same here. Injuries could force it.

Abols cut.......boooooooooo

yeah i see it as they got to see him for 4-5 days, put him thru testing and watched him play already... no need to further showcase him for the benefit of other scouts if they are indeed interested in spending a draft pick on him next yr.

Also provides an additional spot in camp for evaluation towards our own prospects.

I can't remember any prospect in the past that was invited to a canuck camp that we were unable to sign.. I don't think its a common occurrence.. nor does it really make sense when a team has 50 contracts to evaluate already.

I wouldn't sign Abols even if we could. Would consider using a 7th on him next year though.

If he's still available in the 7th round in his 3rd yr of draft eligibility, i think it's a pretty safe bet he ain't getting drafted. Better off gambling on an 17/18 yr old you like, then signing Abols minutes after the draft if he has a good progression season this yr.
