Great teammate- team ahead of yourself, anything to help the team both on & off the ice, right attitude, work ethic not just physical skill.

You can't have a million dollar dream with a minimum wage work ethic.

Never make someone a priority when all you are to them is an option.

If it were in the middle of the season, I'd be more inclined to believe some may be about Eric. But it's the offseason, Pete probably hasn't talked to Eric in months, and I'd lean toward Pete attempting to be too philosophical for a man who teaches crowds of people how to examine their urine.
