I was wondering what that earlier post meant. Just don't let Simmer doing the change or it will turn into radio porn.

i guess you weren't a fan of that 1200 sex show with the 3 ladies?[/QUOTE]

Must of been before I became a listener, I'm sure it was very informative :)

BTW Anyone know what happen to Lee Versage he hasn't been on the air in while and being short handed this week because of Lloydys family loss you think they'd have him.

Uh-oh. Looks like its Steve Warne and Simmer on the Drive tonight.....

This has disaster written all over it......

I wonder if they are going to dig reeeeeeaaaalllll deep for their guests tonight. I am going to go ahead and guarantee that AJ will be brought in. Maybe Don Brennan too.

As immature and off topic Simmer can get I find it entertaining most of the time. Albeit I don't/can't listen to the station ALL day.

But on the note of guests, as lame as they can be most of the time, Simmer was able to bring in Dave Poulin (Leafs VP of HO) yesterday. Also looks like Freidman is on today!

I guess what I'm saying is def. give them/him heat for guests when they suck (a lot) but give him credit where credit is due.

the drive had some killer insight from Terry Marcotte, who had just finished hosting the show that immediately preceded it. Scintillating stuff.

I'm enjoying the Warnesy-Simmer combo.

It was decent. Warne obviously has a Little Man complex the way he refers to his endowment and so on all the time, and Simmer has his own issues They're probably not going to overhaul the station at this point but Simmer taking a month (or twelve) off to find himself would be nice.

Mendes is clearly the station's best asset though, best move ever bringing that guy on.

He is intelligent.

We need some on air personalities who aren't just suck ups to the Sens brass. No one is willing to ask those hard questions that Sens MGMT may not 'like' but questions that need to be asked. Not enough balls on the station.

Great sports journalism this morning on TGOR:

JR - "This just in, looks like if James Reimer requests a trade, it'll be in the offseason"

Well done JR. Pretty sure they won't be trading him in the next few weeks. He was dead serious when saying this. This wasn't meant to be a sily, stupid TGOR joke

The next one takes the cake:

Warne on March Madness: "Not sure we have a high percentage of listeners who even care about March Madness"

Once again, dead serious, no sarcasm, he actually believes that no one cares.

Way to go TSN1200. May as well just bring on Simmer evry 15 minutes to talk about "proper hockey" and "affecting change"

I don't think the morning guys really care much about sports outside of the sens (and I guess the flames in JR's case). And even their hockey takes are pretty "casual fan" like. The problem with TGOR as a sports-talk morning show is they lack sports knowledge and they're not funny enough to make up for that

I for one don't care. Pretty sure Warne is right seeing as not many people in this town do care about sports outside of the Senators/67's. No doubt they'll discuss that tournament if something significant happens. At this point if you tune in to TSN1200 without the expectation that you are going to hear about the only game in town then you're going to be disappointed. Not sure why some of you bother to listen to the station if you don't like how it is run. I get annoyed by some of the hosts from time to time so I don't listen for a week or two and that tends to help.

That's what I don't get either. IF somebody wants to hear about march madness, the nfl, the nba or whatever .. . there are adamn near infinite number of easily accessible radio stations that do just that.

TSN1200 is what it is. A small town radio station that's going to focus almost exclusively on the only game in town. It's the only media outlet that does focus on the Senators, and that's the way i want it personally, given how many alternatives for everything else already exist.

I posted earlier how Warne has been dropping the ball lately, but I'll disagree with your points here. I'm pretty sure Warne pointed out to JR that Reimer could request all he wants now but nothing will happen until the end of the season, and made fun of the way JR said it.

Also, I don't understand how Warne saying 'no one cares about March Madness' takes the cake. He's essentially right. Most people listen to TGOR and the station, especially this time of year, for hockey talk. If they started talking about March Madness for extended periods of time, especially now when the tournament is JUST getting underway, I would completely tune it out.

College basketball. Ottawa isn't the market for it, even with the fringe fans that come out of the woodwork this time of year.

Agreed - I was listening this morning, and the Reimer discussion was definitely in jest.

If I remember correctly, Warne was also asking JR if he thought people wanted to hear them talk about March Madness, and even invited people to email their opinions.

For the first time in months...

I listened to TIGOR twice this week, and both times I had to turn it off after about 10 minutes. Steve Warne is fine at times, but JR is very hard to listen to.

Are you telling me TGOR doesn't live up to being "smart sports radio"?:sarcasm:

Car giveaway

I guess giving away a car is easier than trying to strengthen the content of your shows. With the Sens season over soon, I can't imagine how they will fill air time. On TGOR we will get hear about JR being in "lock step with the youth" and the Drive we will get to hear all about Simmer's obsession with himself. Maybe Spring is a good time to switch to regular radio, Stuntman Stu can't be any worst, can he?

whitey filling in for york this morning is keeping me interested in the 'in the box' show. Big upgrade.
could be a solid lineup with white and lloyd, simmer and aj, pre game with mendes, post game with aj/mendes/white/lloyd

I can't believe I agree with him, but Shawn Simpson is arguing against Brennan about injury disclosures and I just wanna join Simmer and get it into Brennan's skull that he doesn't deserve to be told the truth when it comes to players' injuries. That dumbass needs to be driven out of Ottawa, tarred and feathered. Enough with the antagonistic BS he spouts on the air and prints in that rag they call a newspaper.

Did Simmer say to Brennan specifically that he didn't deserve the truth? Because if he did, that is awesome.

The Drive 6 months later

Honest opinion of the Ian Mendes and Shawn Simpson after 6 months on the Drive?

Personally, always like Ian Mendes, I respect his knowledge and the all work he seems to put in to be well prepared for the show. I've stated my thoughts on Simmer before; but, I will say to his credit the last month or so he has toned down the "I'm a stud" and sexist attitude and seems to have dare I say matured a bit. I think that together they are beginning to work better off of each other and they know what buttons to hit and avoid with each other. Sadly, as much as I hate to say it they need a better substitute when Mendes is off than Lee Versage. He's fine filling in on "In the Box" with Yorkie but he and Simpson just seem to clash to much, like Lee is always driving to prove himself to Simpson for some reason.

Love to hear others thoughts, I know I judge things a bit differently:).

Try 690 - they talk sports, with a ton of Habs hockey, all day long. Just flip back and forth and you'll see the difference right away. And we have SO many commercials. we need to set up their kind of sports roster.
