When Rittich starts to suck the Flames are in big trouble.
Thanks for the valuable information. Same can be said for most teams with a good goalie. Nothing new here folks. Let's move along.

Btw what does that have to do with the thread? Are you saying the Flames ability to score is dependent upon how well the goalie plays??

Flames rely on Rittich to win and steal games for them.

Play Smith all the games and see where they end up.

If you cannot read the title of the thread, it very clearly states we have 5 point per game players (more than any team) as well as 4 players with 40+ points (again, more than any team).

Very rarely do we have to rely on Rittich

:)

What?? Rittich isn't one of those PPG players?
He would have to be for tntkid's post to make sense.

Not true at all. The Flames rely on scoring goals and limiting the chances against. I am willing to bet there are more games we lost this year because of bad goaltending than games won because of good goaltending.
Yup. Flames are the Leafs of the West.

There is something about this team that makes me dislike them. I think some of the antics Johnny and Backlund are pulling are starting to put a sour taste in peoples mouth.

They’re actually one of the better advanced stat teams in the league. Rittich’s played very well and has stolen the odd game, but it’s not like the Flames get consistently outplayed every night.

I agree Smith has been awful though.

tbh Tkachuk's point total might be most impressive. Obviously Mony/Johnny/Lindholm are fantastic, but they can all play off each other. Tkachuk has 46 points in 40 games playing on a shutdown line.

The bitterness in this post is strong. The Flames would still very well end up in playoffs even if they played Mike Smith.

Despite the fact that he might be the worst starting goaltender in the league with 3GAA and .888 sv%, he still somehow manages to sport an 11-8-1 record. Quite impressive.

Your post would make more sense if the Flames weren’t the highest scoring team in the Western Conference.

Tkachuk is still underrated around these parts.

He is a legit top 10 forward in the NHL, brings alot to the table, besides scoring.

That is somewhat true. Players take more risks if they are confident in their goalie. If they aren't they typically make more mistakes.

But saying they are in trouble if their goalie starts to suck isn't earth shattering. That's most teams.

I’d take him over Panarin, but your point is made and I agree!

This is the flames peaking... that goaltending will let them down

Yes, same for me, even if the duo Rittich / Smith looks ok, I wonder if they will go after a goalie at the deadline?

This and maybe a third line center even if Jankowski looks good though.

Off the top of my head, Kane/Draisatl/Hall/Aho/Barkov are all arguable too.
