If only Edler-Hamhuis can work. Then we can reduce the 3rd pairing minutes down to like 12 minutes.

That likely won't work too well plus the one pairing thats working great for us is our first pairing... why mess with it?

27 is a great hockey number and Hutton has been a godsend for this team. With him playing well on the big club and Pedan and Subban cooking on the farm, we have some potential on defence and a nice mix of skill sets to work with.

Hutton was the best d-man on the Canucks last game....decided to try and carry the team on his back and drive the net once they got behind....He's growing in confidence and stature before our eyes.....but it's still somewhat sobering to think that a 22-year old rookie is the best you've got on the back-end.

There were people on this board saying that McNally is even better than Hutton

which really gets me thinking if he was given the chance, could he have blossomed here.

You look at San Jose, he didn't beat out Tennyson, Demelo or Mirco Mueller.

i think it was most likely in both huttons and mcnallys case that they would need some AHL time to make the jump to the NHL. hutton has obviously exceeded expectations, but i'd give mcnally a bit of time to work his way in

that said: mcnally is older and doesn't have much time left, and honestly hutton is now what we should have expected from either, realistically, so hutton is almost certainly going to be the better player

Still think not signing McNally was a mistake....particularly since we lost Corrado, which further weakens the prospect d-man depth....they'd better find a way to get Tryamkin over here next season.

As good as he's looked, it's hard to put him over Ceci, Dumba and Pouliot, who have all shown flashes of similar or better play in the NHL, or the 3 big goalie prospects.
