Depends on the player in question.Does saying a player needs to play better make one a hater?

LOL, that is brilliant
The people complaining about Gardiner are not the same ones complaining about Barrie. I loved Gardiner. He was actually competent defensively. Completely different players.
Barrie is worse than below average. In fact, I don’t think I can name 5 dman worse defensively than Barrie... that is how bad he is defensively.
@LeafingTheWay
Gardiner's worst season defeinsvely was still better than Barrie's best season defensively.
Numbers below
Jake Gardiner:
15-16: 0.78 EV GA/GP; 50.6% 5v5 OZ%; 16:49 5v5 TOI/GP
16-17: 0.65 EV GA/GP; 54% 5v5 OZ%; 17:36 5v5 TOI/GP
17-18: 0.82 EV GA/GP; 47.4% 5v5 OZ%; 18:54 5v5 TOI/GP
18-19: 0.72 EV GA/GP; 48.7% 5v5 OZ%; 18:18 5v5 TOI/GP
AVG: 0.74 EV GA/GP; 50.25 5v5 OZ%; 17:54 5v5 TOI/GP
Tyson Barrie:
16-17: 1.11 EV GA/GP; 56.7% 5v5 OZ%; 18:39 5v5 TOI/GP
17-18: 1.01 EV GA/GP; 61.3% 5v5 OZ%; 17:47 5v5 TOI/GP
18-19: 0.87 EV GA/GP; 63.1% 5v5 OZ%; 16:49 5v5 TOI/GP
19-20: 1.02 EV GA/GP; 55.6% 5v5 OZ%; 17:43 5v5 TOI/GP
AVG: 1.00 EV GA/GP; 59.1% 5v5 OZ%; 17:45 TOI/GP
As I said, I was a big Gardiner fan and he was better defensively clearly. No one is arguing that.
How was that fact measured? The same thing was said for Gardiner (I disagreed, as Gardiner's fan).
The same thing was said for Krug.
The same thing was said for Rielly.
The same thing was said for Karlsson.
The list goes on.
Barrie's below average defensively, but to say he's completely incompetent is very silly.
Don't you remember how 95% of Leafs fans last year thought Gardiner was the worst by far defensive player in the league?
So then can you stop with these Gardiner comparisons...? :p
There is not much comparable between the two, really. And i disagree with your premise that the same people criticizing Gardiner are the same people criticizing Barrie. Barrie is much worse....
Used to go watch him with the Generals. He would have the quietest 4 point nights I've ever seen.Pretty impressive how the guy is quietly playing at his career average and people think he is awful this year. I think we as leaf fans were spoiled with last year and have outrageous expectations.
Anyone catch that bit during intermission last night where Poulin was trying to insert Sandin's name into trade speculation and McKenzie just shut him down. Saying that Sandin, Liljegren and Robertson are "untouchable".
Pretty funny bit.
Thought what he said was correct.Anyone catch that bit during intermission last night where Poulin was trying to insert Sandin's name into trade speculation and McKenzie just shut him down. Saying that Sandin, Liljegren and Robertson are "untouchable".

Which one though? The real one, or, the poster on here?Poulin for GM!
But the guy who I completely missed on was Engval. This guy is a player. I think someone mentioned it. He can play anywhere. But now I can see why Keefe wants to give him a shot a centre. He looks so much better at NHL level then AHL. Every once in a while that occurs. Not often but it appears that way with Engval.
Gibberish is obviously that posters first language, because, it sure isn't english.Whatever you're smoking....pass that over to me.
Because I have no clue what you just typed out
It's a good game when you're mostly invisible!Best game by Marincin in weeks!
I don't know maybe. I have seen him have flashes with Marlies too but he could never sustain it. Maybe he is just coming into his own now. I can't remember him having a bad game with leafs yet. and last night well might have been his best. Got to give someone a huge KUDOS for bringing him here. and now Keefe for giving him his shot at centre. With Mik and Engval we really picked up 2 players. and if Sandin can replicate his game from last night maybe we are in better shape than I thought on defense. Hard to say though because the Preds did not play a physical game against us and they are a slow team to begin with. Dallas will be a better test.Just throwing this out there ... could it be playing with the best, and more intellectual players means he doesn't have to dumb down his game?
I know it isn't just me, because I've read it several times, he looks like he possess great HIQ.
Muzzin was huge for the Leafs. 22 min and lots of won puck battles and clean zone exits.
