I have no issue with some Europe based players going and giving a hand to the young guys who inevitably go over there. That's preferable to low end NHLers whose games obviously won't translate to the larger ice surface and IIHF reffing. Credit to those who do go. I will have no interest however if the team doesn't have any players that show promise for the higher level. It's understandable that things won't be all that promising this year and there is no reason to hold a refusal against anyone.

Maxim Noreau should be there if they're taking Euro Ds. He's been a soldier for Canada at the Spengler Cup and at the last Olympics w/ no NHLers.

Haven’t seen Max Comtois mentioned here? He had a good season on a bad Ducks team.

Is it because he is RFA?

Yes! RFA. Although Batherson is also an RFA and it has been reported that he is open to accepting an invite. Just a matter of how much Hockey Canada is willing to pay on insurance.
