I imagine firing Snow/Weight and bringing in Lou did a lot towards convincing Tavares stay. Players as big as him in name don’t generally just walk once they hit UFA, usually sign a big deal with their “home” team. Only thing preventing that previously was the direction of the Islanders and his faith in them as an organization. They’ve got the cap space to match most, if not all, offers.

Kind of a long story, but here's the skinny:

Poster seems to have a legit source, obviously the legitimacy of source questioned by other posters, someone posted that he's a DD vendor in jest, it stuck.

Thanks. Must be nice to have a poster that’s more accurate than most teams actual ‘insiders’

hmmmm... here's how i see it. Kovy tells LL that he will sign with the Isles, if Tavares is signed. so LL goes full court press on JT. LL announces on Tuesday, that both JT and Kovy sign.

yeeeeaaaahhhh...

Good for the isles, pretty much expected this all along. Would've been fun to watch JT in a Blues uniform, but oh well. Frick'n uncle Lou swooping in to save the day...

What is there to negotiate ? Are they playing hardball like Yzerman did with Stamkos. More likely Lou is trying to convince him that he can turn it around and that the new arena will be ready in two years. Lou not only has to have a plan that JT buys into, he also has to execute it. Good Luck Johnny.
