If you are looking at actually using the picks, you can look at hockeyDB and see what came out of the draft.I sometimes fantasize....what if the Canucks had kept all the second round picks they coughed up for Vey, Sutter, Gudbranson, Baertschi and Tofoli. Would they have found another Hoglander or Demko?
Dillon Dube, Carl Grundstrom, and Dylan Gambrell were all picked in between the picks swapped in the Sutter deal.If you are looking at actually using the picks, you can look at hockeyDB and see what came out of the draft.
Sutter, they flipped a late 2nd for an early 3rd if I recall.
There are definately NHLers who got drafted after the Canuck's pick. And at that point in the draft, draft lists will vary a lot from team to team. So, who knows what the Canucks draft list was. You can say that they could have had Andersson in 2015. Between andersson at pick 53 to the end of round 3 in that deep 2015 draft, you have Andersson, Dunn and Cirelli who are the biggest contributors to their NHL team. If you don't take one of those, there's really not a lot of production from the other players with those other 35 picks.
Hi all, Coyote fan checking in. Pearson's name has been tied to Coyote interest in the hockey press.
What's a reasonable offer for Pearson and his expiring contract? A 2nd rounder and an expiring contract (Jason Demers?) to balance salary?
Appreciate your thoughts.

Thanks! Arizona is likely a good fit as he would slot immediately into a 2LW role with Dvorak as his C and some combo of Kessel/Pitlick as his RW. Dvorak is turning into a quality 2C, he's just saddled with pluggers (Crouse/Pitlick) as line mates.I think that offer is likely more than fair. But then, I don't know shit.
I like Pearson a lot. He's a likeable veteran guy who puts up goals in bunches, and doesn't hurt his team defensively when he goes cold on the offense. I think he really re-established himself in Vancouver after kind of hitting a low point in Pittsburgh.
If he does move on, I hope it's to an organization that treats him well.
Welp. Not happening now.The deadline plus 14 day quarantine and you’re 5-7 games from the playoffs.
We need a new GM who can be proactive. Get a 2nd early and be happy about it.
Give it another 5-10 games then start dumping guys. Edmonton could use Sutter. Winnipeg seems like a Pearson place place.
Gaudette to Nashville for picks/prospects.
Virtanen and Roussel as a package for picks or expiring salary.
He’s performed literally terribly this season.Okay. So... re-sign? Let him walk? Don't think we can trade him at this point since he's injured.
He'll be 29 next season. He's been a good fit alongside Horvat but he's having a down year. At this point in his career he's a complimentary goal scorer who is solid defensively and wins puck battles. No gamebreaking potential. He's not particularly fleet of foot. He has spent very little time away from Horvat but his time in Pittsburgh makes me think he's not a plug and play forward and might not be all that effective if he's on our 3rd line.
What are the comparables? Kassian is at $3.2M AAV, Connor Brown at $3.6M, Foligno $2.87. I think if we were to re-sign Pearson to a short term contract that runs 2-3 years he's looking at that range in AAV.
I think the Canucks' offer should be 2 years below $3M. We should wait after the expansion draft anyways. I think there's a significant risk of decline where he would just be an ok 3rd line player.
He’s performed literally terribly this season.
It looks like he’s already declined and they would be paying him based off of his last regular season.
Let Pearson walk to UFA with a two year offer in his pocket at 1.5/yr.He’s performed literally terribly this season.

Toffoli and Stecher man. Still hurts. Trade Pearson and Myers and we could have even added a 3rd line center w the extra savings.Should have traded him and re-signed Tofolli. =(

Give him a couple weeks to find a better dollar. Then circle back and see if he will take the two year deal. If not, move on. He’s going to be in the bottom six next season anyway.
Hes still tradeable. As long as the canucks are open and truthful about the inury and how long he could be out. just takes another gm whos ok with that.Okay. So... re-sign? Let him walk? Don't think we can trade him at this point since he's injured.

timeline is roughly a month for the injury.Right but he's not very useful as a deadline acquisition being weeks away from playing.
If it’s to a US team, there is still the quarantine to go through. Compensation might be conditional. If he was expected to garner say a 2nd or 3rd, an injury might change the deal to a conditional 3rd or 4th which moves up a round based on games played or something.Hes still tradeable. In a perfect world teams want him to get some games in so he has time to get acclimated with the team. But theres some teams that basically have no cap space at all that will just want his services for playoffs which can be enticing to some where they dont have to worry about making the money work.Right but he's not very useful as a deadline acquisition being weeks away from playing.
Re-signing Pearson would be really stupid, so I fully expect that's what's going to happen.
