It's very hard to judge midfielders so young. Sometimes he does great, sometimes he's all over the place, all gangly and uncoordinated.
However, he's REALLY young for the role he's playing.
Loads of these young midfielders top out earlier than one would think, so yeah, hard to call at this point.
But the potential for big things is there, no doubt.

Herrera is actually a pretty damn good player, definitely would stabilize the defencive side of the pitch even more. But it was more of a homer United view to say he would be the best on Arsenal. That right there is fiction, I would take Torreira every 15 out of 10 times before him. He might not be better than Herrera in pure defencive accolades, but he's way better moving the ball up the pitch and getting involved with the play. Also, no Herrera is not a poor man's Xhaka - Xhaka like major sucks dude. And even if Herrera would randomly be our best midfielder, he wouldn't make sense with the rebuild plan we're building. We need more Guendouzis' and less Ramseys; and Herreras'.

Herrera would be Arsenal’s probably 2nd best midfielder currently. I think he and Ramsey are just as good as each other just with different skill sets.

Also the only thing Xhaka is better at the Herrera is shooting from distance. Xhaka is horrible.
