How do you embed tweets again?

@billmeltzer
Ron Hextall said Mason injury unrelated to previous (back) injury.

@billmeltzer
Hextall said Mason's injury "may be nothing" and plenty of players undergo precautionary MRIs the media never hears about.

Perhaps its some normal Wearing and Tearing?

Maybe he slipped on some Custard Pie?

Or was Trampled Under Foot?

In the pressbox he can order Tea for One?

This sucks. Day after a really great performance, too.

Edit: Somewhat coincidental with Clement talking about his knees during last nights game. Maybe it's related to that play?

Meltzer also suggested that:

Mason ... said there was one moment in the game last night where he felt discomfort and the issue returned at practice today.

While not known for certain, the play in question may have been a point-blank save Mason made on Clark MacArthur in the third period

They just need to stop letting him practice. Wrap him in bubble wrap and plop him on the bench.

Based on their last few games, they need top quality goaltending to not get blown out. We're not getting that from Emery so it looks like we're about to get some draft help if he's out for a few games.

Maybe he got the "Tanks a Go" head nod from Hextall and now he doesnt want to screw up his stats any further.

Looks a lot like an mcl strain, you can finish out a game, but once it cools down and tightens up it doesn't feel so great. It only hurts when you try to butterfly. I had a couple of those playing in college, took about 3 weeks.

Goalie Steve Mason, often hot since November and tremendous in the Flyers' 2-1 shootout victory over the Ottawa Senators on Tuesday night, left Wednesday's practice in Voorhees early due to an undisclosed injury.

Mason had an MRI later in the day and was well enough early Wednesday evening that the Flyers announced their No. 1 net minder will take part in their morning skate Thursday.

Will Mason be available for Thursday night's game against Washington?

It'll probably depend on how Mason feels during the morning skate.

Good, I could see them losing by 4 or 5 goals with Emery in net and the way Washington is playing lately

Start Emery....then let's get into a 7-6 shootout with the Caps!

The whole point of having a backup is to play when your #1 needs time off. Give him the game off..let him heal.

During the first period of the Flyers afternoon game vs. Boston, Flyers GM Ron Hextall announced that goaltender Steve Mason will not return due to a lower-body injury and will be evaluated further tomorrow.

Mason left the ice at 12:53 of the first period, stopping all five shots from the Bruins, with back up goaltender Ray Emery taking over duties.
