Well there's your reason Honka is still around

Several young players on waivers so I assume that means young prospect not so much a player?

A 2nd? Jesus christ, Nill might be crazier than Honka's agent.

Of course a prospect. Star can't take an actual player with less than 100k capspace.

This stupid narrative needs to stop. It's so easy for teams to open cap space and we have 2 players eligible for LTIR. If it's for a player that makes sense we have plenty of options to make it work.

But the Stars don't want to do that. That is well reported. Could they make that work ? Sure but they don't want to use LTIR space unless they have to and they don't have to to absorb probably underwhelming returning players in a Honka trade.

Any player coming back in a Honka trade is not worth using LTIR space for . Not with the problem the bonus structure of some of the Stars contracts.

Seriously Perry , Sekera and Heiskanen combined could hit 4.75 million dollar of bonus money this season and if the Stars don't have the capspace this season to absord the higher caphits on that its gonna slide to next season which would make the team have less caspace next year and nobody wants that. Heiskanen likely can't hit all of them but probably some of it and Perry and Sekeras are just stay healthy for X games and you get X money more.

Why the hell else do the Stars only have 21 healthy players currently on the roster ? There's no reason to have more on the cap right now .

Yeah if Edmonton is dumb I’m all over Honka+ for Poolparty. Leave him in Europe for the year and bring him over next season.

In a perfect world our offense would look like this:

Benn - Seguin - Radulov
Hintz - Barzal - Pavelski
who cares - Larkin - who cares
who cares
come on now.
In a perfect world
Hintz-Barzal-Seguin
Benn-Debrincat-Radulov
x-Faksa-Larkin

Pavelski wouldn't have been necessary at all, nor happened at all.

In a perfect world, we would've won the lottery in 2015 instead of being one ball off

fair.

So instead
Hintz-McDavid-Seguin
Benn-Debrincat-Radulov
x-Faksa-Larkin
x-Dickinson-x

In fact probably makes more sense to have Debrincat play #1 RW and move seguin down to #2 center just for all that speed on the #1 line.....

God what could have been with competent drafting....

To hell with it, we would've signed Tavares as well. And acquired Karlsson.

DeBrincat - McDavid - Seguin
Benn - Tavares - Radulov
Hintz - Larkin - Faksa

Heiskanen - Karlsson
Lindell - Klingberg

Swap Jokipakka and Tavares.
THIS!

How you gonna have Tavares over Joki
Also
Polak on the 3rd pair with Heiskanen on the first. WTF does Heiskanen have to get that undeserved role? Naked Pictures?

Just to add to my point with the Stars not using LTIR right now.

It is the best option for Stars though unless they get a top 6 fwd or top 4 d-man in a great deal and have use LTIR; otherwise just wait.

THey'll make a deal later in the season at the point where the caphit for the aquired contract would be lower for the team. Right now they'd have to absord the full caphit for the aquired players . Since so much bonus money is potentially on the table that would get added to the cap using LTIR now is a risk the Stars aren't going to take right now. Can't have money sliding over to next season and have less capspace. Its a strange situation because the bonus contracts for Perry and Sekera are something thats rare and Stars haven't had someone with such a heavy bonus structure on an ELC like Heiskanen . Right now the Stars have no idea how much bonus is going to be paid. Once the picture becomes clearer huch much bonus money will likely be paid the team will make moves.

Until then the team will be super super cautious and only have the absolute minimum of players on their cap.

The fact that all the forwards that had been close to making the team are waiver exempt makes this much easier as well. Someone will be up when the team needs it and send down back right when not .
What happens in the unlikely case a callup is so good the team shouldn't send him down is the only question i can't answer.
