Finally got around to watching it on Netflix. I guess my expectations were low, but I was entertained. Had its clunky moments for sure.

the worst thing that happened to Star Wars was the Christmas special. I feel like it's not even debatable how bad that was.

Come on having Vader clomping around telling his officers to inspect households on Chewie's home world.

Chewie's fathers obvious porn addiction?

Bea Arthur

A really high Carrier Fisher

Mark wearing enough make up to believe in a makeup shotgun?

The Fett?

The Holiday Special was bad, but, if you didn't see it when it premiered on TV in 1978, then you probably didn't see it until the 2000s (when it became possible to find it online). By that point, it was too late for such a novelty to hurt our perception of Star Wars and, besides, we had already had the original trilogy desecrated with the Special Editions and been introduced to Jar Jar and a whiny Anakin. In fact, when I watched the Holiday Special, I felt more nostalgia than disgust, which I can't say for most things Star Wars in the last 20 years.

It's on Netflix. Pretty good movie.

at first people me included were very cynical but if you actually see it it's not bad. I really liked it

This is pretty much exactly my thoughts after watching the movie a second time.

To expand my thoughts on the bolded, it just makes everything seem so small that in the entire galaxy you have like 2 degrees of separation between all these persons.

Maul leading organization that gets Han Solo career started and the boss of his love interest.
Maul Killed by Obi-Wan Kenobi.
Obi-Wan Kenobi hires Han to fly them to Alderaan.
Han Solo funds the start of the Rebellion in his first job as a smuggler, which he later joins decades later.

To me, it just makes this massive Star Wars Universe seem so small since apparently every important character has been involved with the others in some way without even realizing it. I wish the producers would just be okay with making a unique backstory that doesn't have to intersect other characters.

L3 is the worst thing to happen to Star Wars ever, worse than Jar Jar Binks in my opinion. They need to stop trying to be culturally relevant with stuff like that. Its a science fantasy, and putting modern day issues (like the war profiteering Casino scene from TLJ) just takes me right out of the movie.

I'll say this in response to your comment. That is how the force works. It karma, fate, and destiny all rolled into one.

L3 compared to Jar Jar Binks is a good comparison. IMO Jar Jar Binks was an incomplete character that was re-written and abandoned out of fear of a fan rebellion. L3 served her purpose on and off screen. Part of what makes Star Wars so enjoyable is that the Droids are wacky.

Yes. The early 90's.
My biggest fight in the 90's and early 2000s on the internet was on the AOL sports message boards. There was one guy from Boston whose handle was "seekajob'' he trolled the Rangers board hard! But everything he predicted about the Bruins came to fruition. The guy drove us nuts, but he knew his hockey. I miss those days.
