Surely you can’t be serious?
Kk is so young you guys are nuts. He is going to be a top 6 center. Danault can’t create offence to save his life but keep him right? Evans is yet another low skilled lunch box player

kk will be something you trade him you watch him blossom elsewhere. And it will be all you guys with your hot takes that point out how dumb Bergevin was for trading him

KK isn’t going to be a top 6c. Sorry, he’s going to be nothing more than a 3c. Wasted pick at 3ova.

I expect a Lars Eller turn around and he shows up with a thick neck and another 25lbs of muscle at camp. Then in 5 years he’ll win the cup as 3c for Washington.

Well he is good at falling down! Haha, nothing special.

He's good at leading our team in goals in the playoffs as our third most used center and lesser linemates.

Meanwhile at the same time in his career, Danault was barely an AHLer

But sure, let's get rid of the guy who's already better than Danault to pay Danault 5m to score single digit goals and provide no offense at all.. as a 3C, which he is capped at.

Lars Eller comparison, what a great use of a 3ova pick!

More like, Bambi you falls down with the slightest breeze and gases out mid season.

Btw - NS lead the team in goals, nice try.

Danault wasn’t drafted 3ova, and frankly KK is barely an NHLer right now.

Yep, keep PD and move Lars while they can still get something decent for him. 3ova to draft Lars!!!!

As much as certain posters like to shit on KK, he was a solid contributor in the playoffs, actually, he doubled Phil's production and scored 5 valuable goals vs 1 for PD but none of that matters because he was born in Finland and not in Quebec. Just more of the same.

It's too late for him. He's turned 21. His career is over. Unlike Danault who didn't even sniff the NHL for 3 more years.

What was so "lesser" about Anderson and Byron these playoffs?

Can we all see that secret list of the players "certified to play with the mighty Kotkaniemi"? It would make our lives much easier.

Fresh off an inspiring playoff run, we have to get these terrible takes. Shout “move him”, but no actual insight or suggestions. No analysis.

Just shit fans.

Mighty KK, priceless, apparently in some other universe he lead the team in Po goals.

So who would you’ve drafted 3OA?

with the massive gap at LD and PMD that MB hasn't been able to address since Markov (and really, in 9 years only managed to add 1 top pairing caliber dman...) Hughes would, on paper, seem to be an obvious choice...

problem is that I don't think he has anywhere near the early career success coming to Montreal. He's been given a pretty long leash by Greene/Nucks, and lots of patience with his dismal defensive game. No way he gets that kind of leash under CJ, so it would be a big ? as to wether he builds the same confidence to play to his strengths as he has in Vancouver.

both he and Tkachuk are almost a full year older than JKO (9-10months), which is a bigger variable at that age (from a development pov) than many appreciate.

it really is far too early to pidgeonhole the majority of the talented players from that draft based on what they've done thus far, still a lot of room for growth, physical maturity and development that could drastically change the impact they have.

if we had a re-do today, I still take JKO at 3. of the other players on the board, he still has the highest ceiling as far as impact player imo, especially when we consider what he's been able to do already, despite the obvious physical maturation still to come.

after that? a bit of toss up really... Tkachuk/Hughes seem like obvious ones, but i think guys like Dobson, Farabee and Miller have shown glimpses to suggest that in the next 3-5 years, they might blossom into elite players... and there are others still like Boqvist/Bouchard/Kravstov/Zadina who also could turn a serious corner.

Correct , KK was solid in his last two playoffs , he didnt have the season i wanted yet, but after the team's run i'm expecting a significant upgrate next season. I'm expecting KK to fill the role of a 2C with the stats that an usual 2C brings to a team.

KK is 6 months older than Caufield and scored more goals in the playoffs despite not playing on the top line/top PP like Caufield.

Given Caufield's age, everyone expects him to improve next year and be a candidate for the Calder.

Meanwhile for KK, half the posters expect no improvement from him and that he'll be a third line C the rest of his career.

The KK hate is ridiculous. He did really well in the playoffs. He wants to play a heavy game where he used his body to get an advantage. Unfortunately, he does not have man strength yet to play his game. But you know what, every year, he will come back stronger, this is a 100% guarantee. That's just human development. We just have to wait a little bit. Why is that so hard to understand? Very few players are superstar like Crosby, Mackinnon or McDavid. Also, very few players are physical freaks like Tkachuk at 20. Most of them just need time to grow into their body to began dominating.

Kk has played 200 games. Caufield is a much better player and a bigger talent with a 1/4 of the same

Do you think CC would look this good if he was in the NHL since he was 18?
This makes zero sense. None. 18 year old make the nhl every year. Some Improve and some some don’t
Caufield as a talent is miles and miles ahead of KK so yea. If he started at 18 he would be Even better than what he is. kk hasn’t improved. At all. You’re picking at straws cuz kk has been a huge disappointment

It makes perfect sense. CC had so many things to work on post-draft. Skating, defense, being one-dimensional etc.. Point is he got to develop away from the limelight while KK has been here since 18. They are nearly the same age.

If you believe CC would be better than he is now if he were in the NHL at 18 you're delusional. He was a very raw prospect that needed the two years to go back to Wisconsin and develop.

KK hasn't had that opportunity since he stepped foot on NHL ice with great expectations at 18. He hasn't improved is pure nonsense (please don't just throw me the stat line to make your point.) Those 200 games are not a tell all given that they're roughly the same age but just developed differently.
