A lot of us called this. Hes a good player the sharks never wanted to get rid of
Come on.Good enough to not crack one of the worst rosters in hockey
Knowing what I know now about how it turned out, I’d not do the deal. But based on the information available at the time, I’d unequivocally do the Karlsson deal again.
Giving up what could realistically have been a mid-1st, Norris, a couple seconds, Tierney, Backers, and Demelo for a Norris winner is a deal I’d do again and again even knowing it’d be a $11.5 per year contract.
Very excited as a Sharks fan. Also, this isn’t a f***ing Erik Karlsson hindsight trade thread, grow up.

Relax Bertha. I saw his response and agree I missed the word "offensive".Well if you would have actually read what you quoted and not responded to what you saw in your head, you would realize he made that abundantly clear.
When you have one of the best prospect pools in the league, some are going to get lost in the shuffle.Good enough to not crack one of the worst rosters in hockey

Haha sure bud. You need to relax and enjoy EK.There you go again projecting. Perhaps you should be the one "relaxing."
Norris is a good prospect in a great situation, but I think if he was on an average AHL team he would've been closer to a ~0.6-0.8 PPG season. AHL Rookie of the year doesn't really add on anything for me either. Either way, he'll have every chance to prove himself this year, I'd be happy to be proved wrong with Norris if he establishes himself as a top 6 center, I just don't think he's a guaranteed top 6 center to warrant a B+/A rating.
I don't get why he was put on waivers. Did the Sens really have 14 better F's? And you'd think there was someone equally marginal who was either too old to grow with the team or young enough to go through waivers, they could have sent them down for a couple weeks until someone got hurt, and have kept Rudy.
I should have worded it differently I thought they used the last seasons standings for waiver priority Ottawa being 2nd worst last season and Detroit claiming Djoos I thought they were now #1 on the list
Its not the player but the team who decides whos on the roster. Sometimes teams sign GalchenyukGood enough to not crack one of the worst rosters in hockey
which is when? if Tampa starts out with a 2-game losing streak, would they hypothetically get the first crack at a waiver claim?Waiver order doesn't change due to successful claims. Detroit is still #1 and will remain so until they switch to using this season standings.
For those interested, this cost San Jose $56,250, paid to Ottawa and not counted against the cap.

Sounds eerily similar to Ottawa's mentality with the Duchene trade.Lol. You don’t make that trade and expect to be a lottery team, especially after just making the wcf.
Sure and I shouldn’t have skipped all those classes in high school but here we are.Agreed, but we still won the trade in hindsight.
The trade was a future 1st rounder. I read his post as the Sharks still trade a future 1st, not the 3rd overall. What's that have to do with anything? He said he would make the trade again knowing what he knows.

Sharks got in the playoffs (and pretty deep) in Karlsson’s 1st year. It may end up turning out like Duchene, but there was at least some success.Sounds eerily similar to Ottawa's mentality with the Duchene trade.
Why? LolYep I think a vast majority of Sharks fans still do that trade every time.
Why? Lol
Potential franchise C in Stutzle, a good top 6 F prospect in Norris, a quality 3rd liner in Tierny for an often injured and declining Karlsson at $11M? That seems like a landslide win for Ottawa
