It only takes one good offer,
but its hard to see Flyers getting full value for Ghost after this incomplete season,
(obvi if Habs offered Drouin, but i doubt thats likely.

And already the shadow of Expansion Draft is a consideration, no team wants to overpay for a guy they may need to expose... and almost every team will face tough decisions re which D to protect...
Drouin has zero interest to Flyers fans. Stop with that nonsense.

1)He would not be on the pp1. They are not benching Giroux, or Provorov (only D on pp1) on left side for Drouin. Ask any Flyers fan and we all screamed how Giroux was misused first half for not being on left side. With Drouin on pp2 he is at best 40 point 1 way player. For Drouin or Ghost to be traded it takes the other team to put him on pp1 else the the trade is stupid. HARD PASS.

2)You cannot play Drouin against other teams top line and Flyers all ready have that problem on lw with JVR. To play Drouin or JVR against even Malkin line come playoff time is suicide. You cannot win playoff hockey that way. I want players that add to playoff team wins. Not players that add to points and minus on plus minus at 5x5.

3)You are dumping Farabee's development for Drouin? NO THANK YOU! Give me the 2 way forward who needs experience and upper body strength to be good. Not the forward who can't play D.

4)The value of Ghost is a 2 and b+ prospect. And most Flyers fans say no thank you. Only reason is if you are star hunting. If you need to dump Ghost to trade for Johnny Hockey that case makes sense. To sign Hall for say 9.5-10m would be DUMB.

I may be late to the party, but Ghost is still a solid NHL player. He’s dealt with plenty of knee-related injuries which hampered his season, however, this has been his worst to date.

I’ve seen some people knock his defense, but I suggest they really take a keen look at him. In all honesty, his offense has slightly dried out and his defense is worlds better than what it was prior.

Ghost is a left handed defenseman that should be glued to the right side along with a defensive minded partner, so he can make those riskier plays. This past year he was glued to the likes of Hagg a lot. That was his main partner. A lot of metrics point to Hagg as one of the worst defensmen in this league. His other partners included Myers and Braun. Braun wouldn’t be a bad partner, however, Ghost isn’t very good on the LHD whereas Braun is a RHD.

I don’t think Ghosts time with this team is done, however, I think a combination of assets (him included) would be used to obtain a bigger one, not necessarily a 1-1 hockey trade since his value is at its lowest.

Was that the time he was injured and had surgery, the time he was conditioning in the AHL, or the time the Flyers were on a 9 game win streak so they didn't make line-up changes?

I agree it's too much at this point. So therefore he's worth more to us than trading him for low values. A 2nd or a player like Drouin isn't likely to get the Flyers to trade Ghost.

I can understand a 2nd not being enough but Ghost doesn't get Drouin.

Dude you compare a 2nd to Drouin? Not his fault the best C he's played with was Domi. And before that Kk. Give him a true center and he will show his potential.

Drouin will never get to work with a 1c unless they are ridiculously good (Mckinnon) and make for his defensive liabilities. He is a middle 6 lw who is a pp1 specialist. And if you hide his defense he is fine in that role. After 6 years it should be clear he has no shot to keep up with Boston, washington, pens, toronto, tb, boston, even philly's first line on the defensive end.

And for Flyers (not saying this is for all teams) he is an extremely poor fit. For Flyers (not all teams) the 2 and middleing prospect and cap space is more valuable.

You misunderstand my comparing Drouin and a 2nd. Those are 2 pieces that I wouldn't want in a return for Ghost. A 2nd because it's not enough and I don't really have a lot of interest in Drouin. He isn't an upgrade on Claude Giroux. While he is an upgrade on Joel Farabee at the moment, I think Farabee will be better in the long run. I'm not saying Drouin is bad or worth less than Ghost. Just not the type of player that I'd be chasing in return for him.

I chuckle at some of these proposals and beat downs of certain players, we saw it on G, Coots and now Ghost. Why in the world would the Flyers trade him for a second with term on a good contract left when he'd fetch more than that at the TDL when his term is expiring. Injury aside , it hasn't been a good year for him but anyone who has watched his game knows it's not the skills eroding but others have taking his spot and moved Ghost down the lineup. People that think their getting him for waiver wire fodder or table scraps need to pass what they're smoking.

He may get a tad more at the dealike but that's it... he is a 2nd. No team in gonna drop a 1rst on him or a A plus prospect. Just not happening

Alec Martinez got 2 2nds at the deadline. I would say that Ghost is worth more than that. Currently, we have no reason to trade him. So we definitely wouldn't trade him for pennies on the dollar (aka a 2nd).

A Martinez got 2 2's because he was guaranteed to stay for 1 1/4 years. Come next trade deadline for majority of teams that is not going to be the case. Most contending teams trading for Ghost would lose in ED or lose a solid 3d.
Better comparison is Braun trade where for 1 full year Flyers gave up a a 2 and 3.

There are teams that would be able to protect Ghost as a 3rd option. He still has 3 years left on his deal, or 2.5 at the deadline. The Flyers aren't going to trade him as a rental next year. That would be silly.

You are not going to find 90+ point team able to keep Ghost or at least give up a really good 3rd d man to keep Ghost.

Montreal maybe. LA sure. But teams like Boston, TB, Colorado, etc. would not keep Ghost and be dumping assets for 1 year rental. At least 15 teams would be trading him as one year rental and have to lose in ED. probably another 3-5 to five wouldn't because they are fine at lhd (example Ducks have Fowler and Lindholm at lhd. they aren't trading for Ghost)

And its ok as Flyers fans to keep Ghost for year, he is taken in ED and either York or Zamula take over.

Kessel with 15-20% retention?
If there are free cap buy outs due to the virus Kessel will go bye bye. Pens knew decline was coming and why they accepted GalchenYUCK. Trade wasn't for yuck.

If Kessel is 30 lbs. overweight from hot dogs he might look like King Kong Bundy after getting hooked on cheese steaks.

Your reply s come off fantasy/nhl20 like. In the real world players get hurt and team s that expect to win make moves to fill unforseen openings, bad & mediocre teams always have openings. Ghost is a solid second pair D man that can quarterback 1st team PP if needed. I'll argue he's at his best when he's quarterbacking the PP. You are making a player evaluation using the Flyers roster (where he's the odd man out) to do so instead of looking at the player.

Petry isn’t better than ghost and we both know that, weber yes and that’s why I said them on the same line lmao, you want me to be honest I wouldn’t trade you braun for petry straight up

This is all we need to see. No wonder posters get upset.Claiming that Petry isn't better than Ghost is totally absurd.
And he claims to be honest.

Petry on his strongest game and Ghost on his strongest game are 2 completely different players.

Keeping the same sentiment, if you want to find the better, more complete player then look towards Petry, however, it isn’t apples to apples.

Ghost’s defensive game is much, much better than what it previously was. We can’t really knock him for his defense anymore. Posters who do so either don’t know much about the player they’re critiquing or they’re just trolling. His offensive game has taken a hit which was the cause for concern.

Petry and Ghost are 2 players who I think would complement each other very well. The one sad thing is that Petry is a RHD and Ghost excels on the right side, not the left.

So your hope to get 2 2's is a team's puck carrying lhd gets tear an acl and team gets desperate? Oh goodie I am really confident now.

Your reply ignores the head coach has more confidence in Hagg's D than Ghost's. That wasn't nhl 20 choosing Hagg. It was the top 3 Jack Adams candidate doing that. I may not agree with AV but that it is seen as close is pretty bad and very telling.

We agree he is best if pp1 quarterback. And 3rd pairing D with pp1 duties is very valuable in this league. That is far from a stiff But it ain't getting you kept in ED.

Outside of Philadelphia Ghost is not a second pairing d-man on a playoff team. He is 2nd pairing D on LA, OTT, MTL, and DET. He could quarterback Chi's bad pp and I guess get kept especially if there is a free buy out this off season. Maybe on NYR since their LHD are weak but they have 3d to keep in ED. But on 20+ teams Ghost is not a 2nd pairing d guy.

I don't want Ghost anywhere near the ice if Matthews, Ovie, Crosby etc. is on the ice. This is what a second pairing d man has to do on the road because you can't get every ice match up you want.

Can a change of scenery repair Ghost so that he is a 2nd pair d man again? Sure. Is there a shot in hades he would match value/get close this offseason in a trade then Brady Skjei as example? NONE. Skjei has higher floor and Carolina have an extra 1/4 season to keep pre expansion draft.

And I say this for 10000x time it is ok for Flyers to keep, let Braun go, play 3rd pairing, lose in ED and Zamula/York are called up. But the days of getting a 1 for Ghost this off season are long gone. And if he is playing well pre deadline you don't trade anyway.

Because we have Chiarot and Mete as a lock already with Romanov coming over next year and Kulak somewhere in there. If we do make a move for a LHD, it has to be a much better one than Ghost. Another #4 - #5 isn’t going to solve anything here.

Could be a decent fit on Colorado too. I heard the latest #4 overall might be available after a very, very disappointing D+1 season. Might be the perfect time to salvage some (already) lost value before every other teams catch up to it

Is this sarcasm? You think the Avs would be willing to trade Byram for Gostisbehere?

Byram had another good year in the dub, not sure why you would think he’s lost value.

He was so good in the 2017-2018 season and was voted 10th for the Norris trophy, and now he’s sunk so low that he was sent down to the AHL for a couple of games.

He was sent to AHL on physical rehab. He played too quick on first rehab and AV admitted he was rushed back too quick. 2nd time Flyers were extra careful.

Ghost has fallen but no need for false narratives to back your point.
