Vegas vs SJ? Yeah. Vegas is a better organisation, they have some really good longterm contracts and intriguing young players coming up.
Look at San Jose's salary cap. They have an aging core and have a ton of BIG contracts with term. Even if Erik Karlsson's $11.5M AAV contract is a good one (and I don't think it is), they have a ton of money tied up in Burns ($8M AAV through 2024-25 when he's age 40), Vlasic ($7M AAV through 2025-26 when he's age 39), and Couture ($8M AAV through 2025-26, when he's age 38). That's in addition to Kane (signed at $7M AAV through 2024-25), Meir and Hertl (both of whom earn a $5-6M already and need to be re-signed). And of course LaBlanc who is a pending RFA.
SJ better pray for buyouts in connection with the next CBA. Without those, they are probably 1-2 years away from a Detroit like cap meltdown (probably worse).
