No pregame speeches, rah rahs, captains playing with wired shut jaws is going to mean anything at this point. It's up to each man to look inside himself and find that will to do anything it takes to win at this point and if they really want it or not.

I don't know about anyone else, but I have a really good feeling about the outcome of this series. Call it gut instinct or whatever, but I'm feeling like this Bruins team was destined to overcome adversity and triumph in front of the entire hockey world on it's biggest stage.

Might as well play Krejci with Marchand and Pastrnak. I don’t think Bergeron is going to give you more than Krejci at this point. At least give him some shifts with those two.

I have the same feeling. I was oddly calm after the last game. This team can win the next two no doubt.

...gentlemen, I think if we lose this fight, we lose the war. So if you choose to join us, I’d be personally very grateful.”

I nodded off half way through that. Not exactly Braveheart level motivational speaker.

Living in Toronto, my thing through this run has been telling folks that the Toronto series was my cup, and that everything else is gravy so I’m fine either way.

Turns out I’m not fine.

Turns out I need to see this team pull through, to rediscover their identity (well, half of them anyway), to survive the heinous and clearly to-be-changed officiating and enforcement of rules and bring home the championship to Boston.

Turns out I need that.

So, hockey gods, it’s your time, too. You are loosely clung to when things happen in this game that defy logic, or defy justice, or both. We need you now, too.

Please, Bruins. Make this happen.

I was anything but calm in the couple hours after Game 5.

But I've settled down and I just have this funny feeling the debacle of Game 5 has further galvanized this team and the proverbial hammer is about to come down upon the St. Louis Blues in a manner only the Big Bad Bruins can do.

I just think they can play better when they’re backed into a corner. It’s two games. This team has gone on much longer win streaks. Debrusk finally broke through last game. Krejci played well. I think they’re due to break through.

If Grzelcyk is close to 100%, then even better for us.

Gettysburg was actually a pretty great movie. I’d say it’s worth a look if you like military history.

Colonel Joshua Chamberlain was a Medal of Honor recipient for his leadership at Gettysburg, became president of Bowdoin College in Maine, and served as Governor of Maine for four terms. Quite a man. His men fought in a battle that was every bit as deadly as anything William Wallace saw in Scotland. Over 51,000 casualties including 7,800 dead over three days. Had Chamberlain’s 20th Maine had not held Little Round Top in the battle, the Confederate Army would have broken through the line and captured Washington DC. And won the war.

Every one of the “mutineers” depicted in that scene fought in the battle with honor.

Given what I know about the Battle of Gettysburg (largest battle ever fought in the Western Hemisphere) and the role it played in winning the war, I thought it was a rather poignant speech. A commanding officer doesn’t usually yell and scream in front of his men to motivate them like they do in most movies.

Too bad you didn’t get as much out of it as I did. And thank God those men liked that speech better than you did.

We might be living in a very different country today had that battle been lost.

"We told ourselves before the game that we had to step up, we had to be better, we had to put the team on our shoulders." Patrice Bergeron after 2011 SCF Game 7.

I refuse to think that our top guys will not take over and win this for Tuukka, who's been great once again throughout the playoffs. Tuukka stands at 49 playoff wins, with one Cup ring, the one Timmay won by playing all the minutes and Tukka playing none. Give Tuukka his Cup!!!!!

Most folks had the bruins as better than the blues in every area or evenly matched. I think they’re too close for the bruins to lose three in a row to them. The blues have always played us tight, going back years. I think this series ends Wednesday night

I just have such a sour taste in my mouth still from game 5, so I blame my pessimism on that. I really hope you're right, it is going to be a long summer if the B's lose.
