Bennett is probably the best case of actual talented player, misused beyond belief. he seriously should've never been on Calgarys bottom 6 when he produces like this in Florida. Dude seriously could be called a "late bloomer", but he certainly flashed that talent at times in the playoffs for Calgary. Issue is that the flames went through such a coaching carousel that it frankly was ridiculous. Now that he's in Florida, and has a role that works for him, the points are there

Now if only he can make round 2 again

To be fair not to take anything away from Bennett but Huberdeau is big part of his current success

It looks like every unproven player who did well for the Panthers last year, but you wondered if that was just a one time thing, have delivered again.

That's a rare thing to happen, but fantastic to see. The boys are having fun clearly.

Terrific pro scouting. Our pro scout department is exponentially better than it was 5 years ago. Tallon and Zito have built a terrific department of talent-finders.

Is that quote from today or from before they yanked him off that first pp unit?
He’s never really been on the first PP unit save for some injury fill in time. First unit is always Huberdeau Barkov Reinhart Ekblad/Giroux and Duclair/Weegar with Ekblad out.

Bennett is one of the main staples on PP2 but that unit doesn’t get much time. He’s responsible for the zone entries off the drop pass for that unit

Bennett not playing under Sutter for a full season was so stupid. It'd be curious to see how he would have turned out, would he have tuned in like Gaudreau and Chucky (and the rest of the team) or not?

Would have been interesting to see what the lines would have looked like if he'd stay, does he get Chucky or Gaudreau stapled to his wing full time, because if the top line stays together like it has for most of the year he wouldn't have gotten the same linemates as he has had in Florida. Guy needs to be set up for goals and Mangiapane the only other really skilled guy on the team is our own Cy Young player.

He was on the first unit last year ahead of Reinhart and he was on it this year for the first month or so before Duclair took his spot.

Reinhart was in Buffalo last year.
I am aware. I should have said "before Reinhart joined the team" instead of "ahead of Reinhart".

The point is that Bennett was getting juicy PP time last year and this year to start until Duclair stole his spot.

I thought this year was mostly when Barkov was out for a month but you could be right. Duclair is a better fit for that one timer spot though
