To me I think Kuhnhackl is the odd man out if that happens and his cap hit would work towards that.

You get Lindberg at a 1.7m cap hit, you bring in Cullen at 1.5 with bonuses added to make it 2m. You move out Kuhnhackl and your bottom 6 is fairly set.

Rust, Lindberg, Hornqvist
Wilson, Cullen, Reaves/Archibald

I think you're right. I think Kuhnhackl at best will be the 13th forward. I think one of the young guys will be used to get a 3C. Ideally, Kuhnhackl but to be honest he doesn't hold much value. Wilson makes sense on that front. Add in Rowney and Archibald, it will be tough for Kuhnhackl to find NHL time. Then consider we have ZAR, Sprong, Simon, etc that could stand to see time...I think camp will spell the end for Kuhnhackl in Pittsburgh. Most likely a waiver pick up but I wouldn't hate getting a 4th or 5th for him.

Lindberg or Karlsson there, I like it.

Benning is an idiot who seemingly knew nothing about Sutter.

Detroit really is in an awful position. They suck, they're spending to the cap, they have some long contracts and they have all those NTCs.

Some GMs are going to regret handing them out like candy.

Detroits cap is just brutal right now. If I'm the owner shelling out that kind of doe, I think I escort Holland to door. Great GM or not, that's a tough sell for anyone.

All of our players with NTCs clearly deserve them. None of Detroit's do. LOL.

I like out NTC/NMC situation. I think they've done a great job at managing that part of the business. Nice part is though, we haven't had to sign or resign major deals where that would be an incentive. Sometimes though it wouldn't be a bad thing. I would have maybe toss a NTC-Limited at Schultz to try to get it to $5mil but...is what it is. There's value on both sides of the table regarding those.

Detroit on the other hand likely needed to give those out as extra incentives to stay.
I mean, yeah it's the red wings and that's a storied franchise and all and The Joe was cool...but living in Detroit...woof.

Drai-Crosby-Sheary
Jake-Geno-Kessel

:naughty:

I missed the Drai rumor. Where was that?

Couldn't even begin to think what a deal would be but I like your line up :yo:

Bylsma would stick him on D!

Summer-time reply.

Imagine if all the PMDs we had "worked" out. Talking Morrow, Pouliot, Letang, and we kept Nisky and still got Schultz for kicks. Run LW lock with a PMD as your LW. Basically 2 F, 2 D, and 1 rover.

I should be a coach. And a GM. ...and a player. Like Reggie Dunlap...but better!

On the Cullen front, no news. But more former player commentary on how important he was for the Pens and how much they need him back. Last couple minutes of podcast if you want to skip the rest.

I hope JR offers him a good raise and Ron offers to fly his wife back to Morehead every other day in his private plane if she wants...and free drinks.
Please Matt. We know you want to play.....

 here's Madden putting to paper some of what he said on air.
He think the Pens will start the season without a 3C and trade a wing for a good 3C after a couple months into the season, and that wing he thinks should be Sheary. Also thinks Pens will lure Butcher here.
That probably means none of this will happen

It also proves that Madden gets his rumors from posts on HF.

If Madden starts talking about acquiring Desharnais, or about trading our 1st for Karlsson or Haula, that just reinforces it.

I like him (like Haula better) and he could well improve. But I hope the pens are looking for better than that P/60 production and therefore better than Bonino. He was a black hole of offense for mist if the year. I'd like them in an ideal world to develop a young 3C like Karlsson while having someone more proven play 3C
Clearly you do not know how productive Bonino was and how that comparison actually ranked him among his peers. Last time I looked he was easily in the upper 1/3rd of #3Cs. For ES production it was middle of the pack.

Not bad for someone we all were unimpressed with most of the time.

If JR can't complete a trade for a center before the season and we need to wait for the deadline, I would like to see them try out ZAR or Adam Johnson there and just play them through their growing pains. Don't want to see Guentzel there

No, no, no. You ***** about not being able to three peat with Karlsson as the #3C, and then your talking about putting a couple of kids who haven't played an NHL game there "and letting them work it out "?!??!

Talk about completely non-sensical. :shakeshead:

Between William Karlsson & Oscar Lindberg, which would be most preferable? Assuming cost to acquire is equal.

Karlsson easily. But I'd take Lindberg if that's all who was available or the price was significantly cheaper.

Wait, does Daley have a full NTC? Holy hell, why would you ever give Trevor Daley a full NTC?

He has a weird one, full NTC until the trade deadline of the 3rd year or something. But yeah, Detroit has given out some bad ones.

It goes to the week before the TD of the 2nd or 3rd year. Then it becomes a limited one. It's actually a pretty savy deal. TD get some security while the team still gets options.

As to the why... it's what happens when you're FA shopping and can't point to recent success and have to offer up other incentives ($ or NTCs) to acquire players.

I find it funny that madden was talking about how the Penguins should trade Sheary on the day that Sheary was on his show

Madden is a dunce. There's not a 3C out there that would help the Penguins more than Sheary does.
