JR says he has 5 options and that he could pick up someone today if he wanted to. Then says he only had 2 mil to work with. He is talking out his arse and keeping all the options open. No need to rush the 3C aquisition, but a center of some sort will be brought in before the season starts to take some minutes away from Sid and Geno, either Cullen or someone else. The eventual 3C is going to be a good hockey player.

I guarantee everyone on this board will be underwhelmed when we finally find out who it is.

Sutter 2017.

(Kidding... or am I?)

Everyone on this board? There has been some pretty underwhelming options thrown out over the last 6 weeks or so.

I am still holding out hope for Grigorenko or Desharnais.

Didn't take long to completely nullify the one nice post out there.

Maybe we can lure Marcel Goc out of Germany to make his triumphant return to the NHL and make a dominant German duo with Kuhnhackl? Better than anything their fellow German Draisaitl can do with McDavid.

George McPhee is giving away NHL players for 6th round picks in 3 years. Let's see if we can pluck someone before he gets fired.

Although I predict we'll land Bozak.

It's really too bad we can't trade picks out as far as we want. McPhee would prob love to start getting a head start on those 2020-2025 drafts.

Someone really should tell him he is just helping out some future GM, but let him have his fun I guess.

The only way JR is bringing back Sutter is because he wants to be able to trade him a away a 3rd time.

"We're happy to announce that Brandon Sutter has been reacquired and look forward to his contributions to our club."
*5 minutes later*
"I'm happy to announce that Sutter has been traded for Faksa and hope someone is recording his reaction."

They are the creme de la creme.

What teams are we expecting to possibly find themselves needing to shed salary and/or a 3C? Only ones I can think of are Detroit, maybe Toronto at a push and Washington, although no way they'll be sending us someone like Eller

Does Janmark have the all clear at Dallas? Does his health possibly change things there?

Florida has an internal budget of 65M. They are currently sitting at 64.1 with around 4 guys to sign. It seemed like Demers was being shopped but maybe bjugstad? Got size and decent contract. Cant really fault him for his bad year since FLA has been an absolute mess the past year.

I have a little more faith in JR's search for players via trade nowadays cuz theres an ace stats guy on the full time payroll now, Sam Ventura.

Sure, things like adding a vet D for a Cup run...Despres for LJ, Hainsey/Streit
or searching out and adding toughness...Reaves
are the outliers but when you're searching for an effective 3C, you need to dig deeper into the stats and thats where Sam comes in.
Sam would detest the idea of Sutter coming back.

I don't think there will be a 3C trade until Sheary re-sign, and JR know exactly the free cap space remaining. And even then he might still want to wait for a definitely answer from Cullen.

People wanting Desharnais is probably one of the weirdest player fascinations I have seen here in quite some time.
