Pilut with 3 points tonight, which means he moves up to the top 3 in the AHL for points. Not bad considering he missed the past 2 games.

How has he looked defensively?
Very good. Watched him stick lift steal a couple tonight, plays aggressive along the boards in puck battles and gets in the shot lanes. He also looked good in the 3rd a couple times battling to clear the front of the net. He's definitely ready.

It's an interesting situation because his numbers suggest he's NHL ready AINEC. He's leading the AHL in points per game as a defenseman and is +10.

But the blue line has been playing well. So if there's no injuries, who do you take out?

Few more games like Montreal, and I'm coldly staring directly at Scandella to go to the box, and waive Thompson.

you waive Nelson

That would put Pilut with Dahlin. We could then deploy a 5 man unit of Skinner, Eichel, Pominville, Pilut, Dahlin and really take the play to the other teams.

Let teams worry about trying to stop that. Would open up the Middlestadt and Reinhart lines

Don't want to waive Nelson and lose him for nothing. He was good last year and he's been good in the last few games (after stinking it up at the beginning, true).

Plus Nelson is a RD, so that wouldn't open up a spot for Pilut.

To get Pilut on the left the only options would be to move Dahlin to the right, or scratch Scandella (or play him on the right). Because right now there's no way McCabe is getting displaced.

move Dahlin to the right. I want those two together so we can really take it to the other teams, instead of having play dictated to us

Scandella could be an interesting trade candidate come the deadline if bogo, mccabe and pilut can somehow keep this up (lots of ifs ik)

Who woukd pick up Nelson on waivers? Hes not an uograde on anykne in this league. Every team has such a tweener. Waive him and call up Pilut. Justice must be served.

Yes he is tearing it up and I can easily see a situation where he is here in a few weeks . I would still let him play 20ish games and call him up in December

you could waive Beulieu instead and sit Nelson. They won't do anything though until injuries strike. And don't worry, they will. Always do.

Bealieu has been much better than Nelson. Why would we waive the better player? Just waive Nelson and be done with this saga. By all accounts Pilut belongs in the NHL and for me Nelson doesn't so it's a no brainer.

To be honest guys I think they wanna keep Pilut in the AHL for as long as they can. The Sabres defence isn't so desperate right now that they need him up right away. Let him groom his game and continue to build confidence in the minors. He'll be a mid-season call up no doubt.
