We've drafted fairly well since 2004. Before that was pretty awful though. Mahoney was the director of scouting back then as well.

By your admission, that's a decade of good drafting...probably time to "let go" of any percieved sins from before then.

I've just done a quick google on Burakovsky. With that last name I thought he was eastern European but turns out he's an Austrian born Swedish player. Very interesting mix.

His birthday is the same as mine so he may be added to my favourites list.

Yeah he looks really good on the boards, fits perfect with Chim and Ward so far.

I see Laich being a healthy scratch a lot this year. Not impressive at all.

I'm obviously no pro scout but everything I read says he's worked himself into a very legit bottom pairing tough defender. I've liked him a lot so far. His confidence is impressive.
