I think the more likely deal you are going to see by the deadline is Jordan 'Haggs Hate Me' Caron and/or a 7th round pick for this years version of Wade Redden to fill that ever important No. 8 d-man slot.
What's that again?
I really don't want to trade Spooner either but I sort of like the idea of a package deal. Keeping with the Dallas idea I'd do Spooner and Caron for Ritchie, Chiasson and Gaunce. Two NHL ready players for three not so ready (yes I know Chiasson is playing up but they have no one else). Cole and Whitney are getting long in the tooth so Caron would really help out there as a replacement for either. With our depth at C, I think we could afford to let Spooner go. In Dallas he would probably center the 2nd line this year with Eakin moving to the LW. I see Caron being their 3rd line RW with Garbutt dropping to the 4th.
Ummm Spooner and Caron wouldnt get us Chiasson by himself...Let alone Dallas adding in two more good prospects in Ritchie and Gaunce....
Unfortunately Caron won't be very helpful to get much of anything anymore. I see him shipping out for a 4th round pick or something like that. Possibly to remove the contract before the end of this season.
For what it's worth, Haggs on Twitter says price for D men is high and B's aren't willing to part with Spooner, Bartkowski or their first pick to obtain.
Sorry, on my phone and not sure how to add the link

I don't think it's a matter of whether Soderberg is better than Spooner, or vice versa. I will need to see some more of CS at center but initial results are pretty encouraging. Soderberg is different than Spooner, that's the key. Bigger, stronger, older. In the near term, he may be a nice #3 center. And he's affordable. And he's possibly just better as a center than as a wing and that can't be discounted. I think the point here is that Soderberg may make it more feasible to deal Spooner - it is worth noting that Spooner has not beat out any of the 5 centers in front of him in Boston. I don't know that anybody should assume he will be handed the #3 center position come October.

I hope that exact package is traded for a stud D-man just to spite that fat ****.
But Hagg's isn't, now I'm scared Spooner's bags are already packed
