I don't the logic of this move at all. Has Seguin not earned the opportunity to center the top line again (he's done it before)? By contrast, what has Spooner done to desrve that change? Not nearly as much as Seguin has done. But I thought Julien hated kids and only wanted to double-shift Pandolfo?
Nice to see the kid rewarded for his strong play in Providence this year, but I think it will be a tough test for Spoons. It took Krejci and Marchand 20+ NHL games to get acclimated to the NHL and start contributing- and while Spooner did a couple nice things in his first game, I thought he looked really green against MTL. That's to be expected of course, but it's a big leap from wide-eyed rookie to running the first line.
Here's hoping the kid has an exceptional learning curve!
Has played his last game in the Minors.... Will be the 3rd Line center for the remainder of the year after Krejci is back. And will center Peverly and Soderberg in about a couple of weeks from now.

Anyone who thinks that both:
1. Seguin cannot play C and is just another Kessel type winger.
AND
2. Spooner is an NHL-ready center, TODAY.
... is going to be sorely disappointed.
I'm glad to see the kid up and getting a shot, but what happened to Claude being a guy who made the young players pay their dues, earn their chances, have nothing handed to them?
Right on Artemis. When krecji comes back he (Spooner) will centre the third line with Peverley and Caron (or acquired winger on the wings ). We need a top 4 defenceman before the deadline. Love to have Streit. Let's offer Boychuk, 2nd Rounder, and Sauve for him
I am worried about the perception here. At the expense of stating the obvious, the AHL is not the NHL and he is about to be tossed into some pretty deep water. Frankly, I hope he can tread water and not drown, nevermind actually accomplish something. This gets to something Bill said a few posts up:
It's great to see him get a shot. But hopefully folks don't get too carried away with what they expect to see. From AHL play to top-6 minutes in the NHL. OOOFA!
Does anyone know who is regular linemates in Providence were ?
I give Spooner one period centering Horton and Looch before Claude demotes him.

It's certainly possible and I'd guess 50-50. If he can't keep up or can't make (or receive) the passes then he'll move to the third (or fourth) line. I don't remember his performance in the MTL game referenced earlier. Can anyone comment?
I will be very surprised if he's on that line all night. I will also be happy, since it would mean he's played great.
But based on past experience I think Peverley and Campbell will also see time on that line.
Neely on 98.5 this afternoon seemed to indicate that he would start out on the Horton/ looch line. We will see I guess.
And if you put him on the looch line you don't have to play with the rest of the lines.I don't really see what the problem with leaving Spooner on the top line is.
Regardless of what Spooner does (good or bad) this team is either getting the #1, #2, or #4 seed in the conference and the playoffs are a crapshoot anyway.
