Beat me to it.

This tells me more about Brad Marchand than the injury report does. We will see but they needed to have someone in case of an emergency.

I wonder where he'll be in the lineup. Hopefully he shows enough for a permanent spot on the third line.

He deserves a shot. Prime-time ice time (ha) in Providence has certainly done him good, and will continue to, but he's definitely worth a shot, especially if it's only for a couple of games. Maybe he'll impress a lot and make it full-time.

Even if he's only here for a few games, I'd be extremely surprised if he doesn't have a full-time roster spot next year. But yeah, any update on Marshy? From a Globe online article he isn't supposed to practice tomorrow. Paille is supposed to be back, as well.

I like that he is getting a taste, no need to rush him now. He is not really the type we need for the third line and that is the only "real" roster opening that has any questions.

Your'e right, I expect him on this roster next year. Hell, we will NEED him on this roster next year but only if he is ready to play a top 9 roll.

With Horton likely gone, someone has to move up. My money is on Peverley playing with Lucic and Krech, #2 line staying the same and Spooner playing with Kelly and whoever we plug in on the third line.

As nice as it is to see him potentially get into his first NHL game it concerns me that Marchand may be out for a bit. Hoping it's just precautionary.

Could see all-Providence line on Wednesday: Bourque-Spooner-Tardif.

Hopefully he or Bourque get the shot on Bergeron's line, that's putting someone in a position to succeed.

I can't wait to see him play. I've only seen him in preseason exhibitions. On a separate note, why not Sauve? Is he slipping in the eyes of the front office?

I don't mind Spooner getting the opportunity, but I would rather have Marchand. Marchand being injured isn't a good thing-he is a key piece of the top 6 and isn't easily replaced IMO.

And please, please, please do not put an all Providence line out.

Also, I hope Bourque isn't the one they put on Bergeron's wing-Julien tried him out there once or twice in the Leafs game and he wasn't very effective (Soup was far more effective when he was slotted into Marchand's spot although).

Personally I figure for the Habs they will shift Pevs to Bergeron's line and let Kelly skate with probably Bourque and Spooner.

Lets see if he actually plays. Not uncommon to bring extra hands on a trip when a regular is questionable.
My guess is we'll know after morning skate.

I doubt Horton is going anywhere, it's more likely Ference is gone with the play of Hamilton. It's early but I don't think they will let Horton walk. However, I believe we can re-sign everyone.

Anyway good news for Spooner, I hope he does well.

If Marchand is out, I'd like CJ to put Paille in his spot.
Spooner with Kelly and Peverley.
But I guess that's just me.

Marchand out and Paille in should balance. So either Pie has a serious eye injury or someone is sitting.

NhL Network reported yesterday and was fine. They went as far to say he could have played the rest of the game against TO if needed.

Then today he sat out practice.

So its hard to tell.

I think they'll take a look at moving Peverley and/or Kelly this offseason and pushing Spooner and/or Knight into the third line role either next season or the season after. Pevs and Kelly take up over 6 mill between the two. By letting them go, that opens up enough money to keep our top 6 intact while also opening up the roster room for guys like Caron, Knight, Spooner, Koko, Camara, to win spots out of camp.

The Bruins said they sat him out of the rest of the toronto game for precautionary reasons only; he was medically cleared to play.

Last I read, Paille and Thornton are both waiting on medical clearances to return to the lineup, but are both either skating ( Paille ) or working out ( Thornton ).

If Spooner plays it's probably to give Marchand an extra day off. could we see:

Lucic - Krejci - Horton
Spooner - Bergeron - Seguin
Bourque - Kelly - Peverley
Tardiff - Campbell - MacDermid

?

I would think Spooner wouldn't be put on the 2nd line like that but in terms of evening out the defensive-ness of all the lines, I can't see where else he would go. Otherwise I'd put Peverley with Seguin and Bergeron.

EDIT - although, I'm guessing we'll see Paille on Wednesday so the fourth line would probably be Paille - Campbell - MacDermid with Tardiff or Spooner the 13th forward
