All of Hayes, Namestnikov, Spooner, Zuccarello, and Vesey now provide buffer for the kids – and trade chips for this/next year's deadline, depending on how the prospects develop. If one or two surprise, you can always re-sign them.

He'll put up some points especially if he gets plenty of pwp time. He's not physical and he's not very good defensively. I seriously doubt he'll be penalty killing.

Maybe it doesn't matter that much. If we're going to suck anyway--he'll be part of the suck.

I was using Rangers examples but Gagner isn't a bad comparable though I think Gagner is a better player.

That's not exactly wrong. There's going to be a spots for Chytil, Andersson, maybe somebody else. And on defense, there's no guarantee who's going to make it. Assume, Staal, Shatty, Skjei, That leaves Pionk, Gimour, Hajek, Smith, DeAngelo, O'Gara, Claesson and really anybody else fighting for those spots.

That's a lot of spots for young players who were thrown into the line-up by default, or now having to earn the spot by beating out others. It was never going to be, we're going to try and get as many young player we have in our system, inserted to our lineup this year, or at least competing for spots. Most just aren't ready.

Players who play an east west game still have a place on a north south team.
