i'm confused why you need hockey experience to be CEO or President of a NHL team.
Exhibit A: Pittsburgh Penguins.
If the Letang trade rumor was true, there's an example of a man who doesn't think "Hey, we can get two good players back that will overall help the team win...because it fill two gapping holes" but instead thinks "we can't trade Letang! He's good looking and marketable to younger fans, especially females!"
I would pay Penguins ticket prices to see that if they screen it at the CEC.

Yeah I doubt very much they offered that but if any team is capable of it and in desperate need of franchise D, it's Philly.
Not sure I buy the Morehouse/Letang rumor. People say Shero was run out partially so Morehouse could force the next GM to report to him. Morehouse never had that authority over Shero so I'm not sure how he could have nixed any Letang deal that Shero wanted to make. Not to mention I don't think Philly would have offered both Voracek and Simmonds for Letang. That's an insane price.
MM is close to Letang and has been spot-on some Letang related things before, ahead of everyone else.
This would be his first act ...can we just get the inevitable over with already and make adams gm/coach
Mark Madden said after he checked into the rumor, he said it never happened. This board is the only place that kept the rumor going as fact. I would bet anything this rumor originated from Rossi and Madden ran with it since it made for a juicy story. Madden has since said on a number of occasions that it never happened.
The Philadelphia rumor came from Philadelphia radio. Doesn't make it true, since those guys are clowns as well, but it positively had nothing to do with Madden or Rossi.

True or not, not at that time. Voracek hadn't broken out yet and was an average top 6 wing. Simmonds was good but hopped between the 2nd and 3rd line a lot. Those two's cap hits going out to bring back a Norris caliber PMD Letang who was going to be locked up for awhile...for a defense that was in shambles, it makes sense.
Hindsight, Philly laughs and hangs up the phone.
So the best coaching option is now available. Why couldnt this have happened last year
I'd be happy even if we got Todd McLellan or BB if they don't re-sign him. We preach experience afterall.
FWIW, I've always maintained that the Philly thing wasn't reality, but a trade with the Lightning was.
what were the contours of the tbl trade?
