I got the last 5 minutes in the 1st, Skotnikov still in net, the U20s are dominant right now up 3-0 and always having possession. A bit disapoint in the roster Sochi has, they don't seem to have much real roster guy if any ...

It's Sochi's MHL team. Pretty unfair. Basically nation's best against not exactly the best MHL team.

Nope, played Vs. "HC Sochi" aka Kapitan again. In the times like these it shouldn't be a surprise I guess.

Gritsyuk had a chance in top-lines of Avangard and scored a goal. Also Chistyakov looked good in few minutes that I've watched. If they will play this season in KHL they must be locks for WJC (if the championship will take place, of course)

That's quite an educated guess.

Though people are happy about our possible roster, I am actually not. I think there is not much high end talent except in goal of course.

Not sure about in goal at least in terms of the depth, because if something happens to Askarov the situation won't look good at all. I think we're really good at wingers though, as usual.

You are certainly right about Askarov's health importance.

And even some wingers might be A grade prospects, but none of them is a future superstar I think.

Similarly to every year I'm very worried about our centers: Spiridonov is apparently injured, Nikolayev is stuck in the MHL, Abramov isn't playing due to QMJHL pause (same with Ponomaryov), Khusnutdinov and Tsyplakov aren't exactly impressing, Guskov isn't playing at all (not to mention it's been awhile when he last played at C), Alalykin and Safonov are lacking stability.

But if you remember the U18 WJC in 2019, that was our superpower there: we were bad at everything except Askarov (ok, Amirov too), but we put all of our skill points into luck and got the silver medals.

Don't like to copy my posts from different threads, but it might be important to people for scheduling their time:

Just in case, 4 days until the start of the Karjala Cup and so far there is no sign of roster changes or cancellation of these games. Even more, there are reports of some players leaving for the camp today and the games are scheduled to be televised.

Podkolzin was named captain for the Karjala Cup; Amirov, Chinakhov, Groshev and Mukhamadullin will wear A.

And yes, as I mentioned in another thread, Nikishin currently isn't allowed to play for the team by the IIHF.
