Haha, I had this same post queued up and then I went to do the dishes instead. Dynasty yo. I reckon if we do nothing this deadline, it's worth someone getting their knickers in a knot. But I doubt that happens. And we still have a couple of ways to make some space if needed.

Slepets to Toronto, basically as a reserve-list technicality for the cap brokering. Hey, it's a free 6th rounder, no complaints whatsoever. We have two more retention slots if we want to use them, BTW.

I doubt it. If it wasn’t the canes some other team would have done it. I think it was just easier for ducks gm to ask Waddell who was probably sitting beside him the last 2 games if he wanted the free pick.

One thing for sure, the Canes seem to be always in on the “almost” deal for a big time player, but consistently fall short.

What's the sense in sending Slepets away? Canes apparently are 41/50 in contracts currently, so it wasn't due to contract amount constraints (plus obviously he's not even signed onto a contract). This is other shoe business again, because so far Canes didn't gain but goodwill here?
