Ummmm Staal has a full NMC how can he be waived???

If he was bought out I guess he goes on waivers? It was discussed with Shattenkirk and his NTC and all that but I'd still call it likely BS until confirmed by a real source

It would be unconditional waivers for the purpose of buyout. The player has the option to accept waivers or not. If he declines, then they go right to the buy out. If he accepts waivers in the hopes that some other team takes him at full salary, he goes on waivers.

Guys with NMCs almost always decline the waiver option.

If the team structured the contracts better, they’d have an easier time dumping money

Hockeystatminer goes into this stuff quite often on twitter but recently he was talking about how if Namestnikov’s deal was front loaded, the team would have no problem
moving him right now

The Tradeoff is that if you front load a contract, the buyout is much less paletable

Kevin...your 10 team list needs to be expanded, otherwise we will be forced to send you to Hartford this year and next much like we did with Wade.

Cant he just say no to that? Also it would only save like 900k, far from fixing out cap problems

The only thing I found on twitter is Forever Blueshirts posting something 4 hours ago but they’re not legit.

It's funny how everyone throws out a different number for this type of stuff and they're almost always wrong

It's 1.075 mil. Anything over that counts against the cap. The number changes as the minimum salary changes.

The reason Fox has not officially announced his number yet, is because they are waiting for the Staal buy out so he can use 18

Of the 3, a Staal buyout saves us the least. It won't be him, unless we end up buying out both Staal and Smith, which I doubt.
