And, he has a good conparable on his own team, Peca, although Peca got that as a UFA so he may not be a comparable. But, yeah, he's looking for $1m & one way.
For anyone who's seen the Habs play last season and the previous...

Lehkonen>Peca
Speed, defence/offense. No matter how you put it lol...
Lehkonen is a good asset that can't just be replaced by a UFA on the market. So the answer is... You sign him & Armia (if they want) to a bridge deal hoping they improve.

They can all GTFO, I don't care.
I'm glad you're not the GM our team would be decimated even more. :help:

Hudon is the only one I'd apply that to.

3rd liners, you can found them everywhere.

Lehkonen forgot how to shoot, now he's a defensive specialist.
Armia, poor man's Eller.
Hudon, yeah, Hudon.

If only I was the GM.

We better not lose Lehkonen. Indifferent about Armia, don't care about Hudon.

How much does Lehkonen want? 3.5M? If Armia is asking for too much i'd trade him, i'd hate to lose Lehkonen tho.

A lot of players file and most of the time deals are done just before the date. I'm assuming this will happen.

Players file because they don't actually have any other option besides accept the QO. Teams send out the minimum QO to retain the rights, and players file for arbitration to ensure they get somewhat of a decent deal. It has almost no bearing on what either party is looking for in a deal, it merely sets a time limit for negotiations to end.

Hudon is useless. He can arbitrate all he wants, nobody is paying him.

Lehky is still salvageable.

Armia.... I’m not sure...

Lehkonen hasn't forgotten how to shoot... Domi just tends to send absolute peaches his way. He's not a dumb player, neither does he take time off on the ice.

I'd absolutely make sure Lehkonen and Armia are the ones extended. Hudon, couldn't care less. He's as good as gone even if they do sign him. McCarron, who has arbitration rights, opted not to file for them. But I think the progress he made last year before his injury had earned him another contract. But I see him ending up in Laval again.

Fourty UFAs file for salary arbitration, plus all the RFAs that were holdouts. A lot of dissatisfied players, yet the NHLPA voted for a low increase to the cap due to the players not wanting as much money held in escrow. The only thing that helps players get more money overall is adding a new team and its payroll.

This is not a good situation. Players are still dissatisfied and teams are under pressure to meet caps. Players then either get dropped, literally thrown away, or get lower than comparable salaries, and in some cases flee to Europe. It's a poor future for players just past prime. Some teams meanwhile also go through hoops to try and maneuver around the cap. All this done to protect poor market teams where the fans don't give a damn about hockey and who also get balance payments from those who do.

When will the NHL wake up and realize that its present cap situation is a dog for the players and the teams and the fans that are the main support for NHL hockey. Time to bring in a positive change and loosen the rules on the cap to support what really supports the NHL.

Man losing Lehky would be awful. He's excellent defensively and still believe he can be a Jiri Lehtonen like player. He was looking really great at the end of the year. Just snake bit like Mete.

Armia adds a lot to this team. Guy adds size and he's unbelievable on the forecheck. I think the Habs need to resign him. He and Lehky are great team guys that are positive in the locker room. Keep the finish connection intact.

Hudon... Lol. Best of luck finding any takers.

They definetly don't suck lol. Put Peca in Lehkys spot for a year and we're hurting.
We're hurting with either of them on the line up. We should be rolling 4 lines all the time and Lehkonen's inability to figure out goal scoring in the NHL doesn't help us doing that.

Trying to figure out a comparable for Lehkonen's case is kinda challenging lol.

Edit: Nick Ritchie seems to be it.

Great goal, but those are so rare especially with him. He has a problem with his aiming, he was a better goalscorer when he was a rookie. He was bad in his sophomore season and the last season (he had a great stretch at the beginning, but that's about it). I'm done with him, I may be wrong, I'm ready to sign him for 2M-2M4, if he refuse, he can GTFO.

Armia is on July 20th
Hudon on August 2nd
Lehkonen on August 3rd

Has anyone seen any reports on how far apart the Habs are with these players?

Armia is becoming a serial arbitration afficionado since he had taken the Jets to arb. when the Habs acquired him.

I have a feeling Lehkonen is the only one coming back. Hudon will end up being waived and Armia propably shipped to a Western Conference team since the Habs have acquired a ton of bodies this summer.

Armia.... I’m not sure...

That's probably not the only reason he does it though. He likely wants to play. He knows that if he signs the minimum he'll likely not play or go back to the AHL. If MB doesn't plan to sign him then MB is being a dick in this case. He should have just let Hudon go so he can sign with a team in Europe if nobody in the NHL wants him.

Of course if Mtl pays him Hudon will be fine with it even if he's not playing but it's probably not happening. If MB don't sign him after arbitration then it looks very bad for the organization.

Hudon is probably playing the only card he has left.

He's really in the desert.

He's owned by a team whose coach won't play him.

His GM can't find a suitable trade for him or more than likely, there is no demand.

And so, on to arbitration.

Armia is the only player that bring something that we can find in other player we have. Right shot with size and some skills.

Lehkonen and Hudon I like both but they are easily replaceable and both will likely be traded.

I would trade Lehkonen for another RFA, Sam Bennett.

No report has come out indicating how much apart they are in the negotiations.

Lekhonen had a ton of chances where he just couldn't bury it. Maybe it was bad luck. Maybe he just can't. I am neutral in his case. He can stay or he can go. I would give Armia another year. I felt like he kinda came around in the second half... maybe my impression was exaggerated on the background of Drouin's atrocious play. Hudon I don't know why/how he is still a member of this team.
