I don't know what roles I'd have them occupy, but two guys I'd inquire about bringing in are Mark Hunter and Ron Francis.
Both have helped put together two young and skilled teams. With the Leafs enjoying the fruits of those labors quicker, Carolina is still a solid team full of young and promising players.
When Lou stepped down as GM of the Leafs, the debate was whether they'd give the job to Hunter or Dubas. We know who they chose. And some reports are coming out that Hunter isn't exactly happy he didn't get the job. Now, the goal for me would be to groom Bouchard as MB's successor. So I don't know if Hunter would be interested to go somewhere where he will lose out on the job to someone else again. However, he can still be brought in and be allowed to interview for any GM openings that will be eventually there. Mark Hunter, by the way, was Habs' 1st Round Pick (7th Overall) in 1981. He played with the Habs for the 4 first seasons of his NHL career. He's also touted as being real good at evaluating talent. So in my personal world, Hunter either replaces Eric Crawford as Director of Pro Scouting or Shane Churla as Director of Amateur Scouting.
And I can say the same for Francis. He was a GM. He may just be interested in a GM position or a spot where he can become a GM sooner than later. Nevertheless, I'd love it if they at least approach him.
