Seems like Sproul isn't getting much icetime, that's too bad. But he hasn't had many mistakes. That one SH rush by the Alberta forward was probably on Sproul but it was a tough play.

Paterson looking good so far. First save was off a great Drouin chance, not the easiest way to start a game. And that PK-save was sick.

Based on this game, Sproul isn't getting in. They would have played him more imo.

That is what I thought while watching the game, really too bad on the injury although he still made a big impression at some point on Hockey Canada this season since he wasn't called in during the summer. Of course there is an extremely optimistic look. They could have decided one of the sixth or seventh guys is a PP specialist. Played Murphy more to give himself enough rope to hang himself. Corrado sounds like he is playing well of course I think he was the worst guy they brought to camp, so as a USA fan in a couple weeks if they bring him over the other two I will smirk a little. Amazing what a couple of hot days might do to Canada's backend.

It's amazing how ignorant some posters can be

Corrado was nominated as OHL's best Dman right up there with the likes of Murphy, Harrington, Hamilton, Ceci, and Sproul. He's again playing amazing this year and got invited to TC camp and people still wont give up putting him down lol

I dont even like Vancouver but give credit where it's due

/end rant

It didn't look like Sproul played much because he didn't play PK, you don't expect him to either. I think he has a better chance than Murphy. Murphy took the puck up to turn it over or lose control. Paterson looks to be the #3 guy right now, maybe pushing for #2 spot even.

Dumba played a lot today and he will be getting cut, I wouldnt read into the ice time too much. He didnt play PK but played a regular shift and outplayed Murphy who is his main competition.

I think hes still got a good shot

I didn't say I didn't think he had a future or was a terrible player. I simply stated I think he is the worst guy they have in camp for this deal. When you are as deep as Team Canada those things will happen. I just think the 6' tall jack of all trades card is already being filled by Ouellet and Harrington.

Really when you look at team Canada.

Hamilton, Rielly, Ouellet, Harrington and probably Reinhart are on this team. What do you do from here with the last spot? From the guys that seem to be there I would take other people before Corrado. That just personal opinion. But like I said as a team USA fan for this event I hope he is there. When one of your main competition likes the idea of you bringing somebody that is probably a bad sign.

Also this isn't a Canucks thing, I am not Canadian and I don't hate them. I usually watch the start of either Vancouver or LA as a late game before going to bed. I enjoy watching those teams and have done so for at least the last five years. I know from stopping in on the WJC thread that people think that is the only reason you don't have to be on board with Corrado, but it isn't. Some of us just aren't all that enamored with him and I think with the makeup of the rest of the team outside of the righthanded shot I don't see why they would take him over some guys that have significant strenghts in their game. On this level I prefer only a couple players that are just good everything because they are much worse at being able to take away big assets that players have. A special gift can have a much bigger impact at the WJC level in my opinion.

True, but in a short tournament like this you should take the players that are the best RIGHT NOW

Apparently Paterson is a pretty streaky goalie but his peak performances are crazy. People who watch Saginaw say he carried them in last years playoffs. The problem is the kid can have really bad stretches. Hes gonna have to improve his consistency

From what I get from him hes a big game goalie that turns it up when the pressure is one. This tryout camp has proven that to me, he has been lights out. He might actually make it as the back up based on his play, not just the third goalie.

Getting 40 shots a night will make you streaky I guess, but then when you have a good defense youre ready to go.

I still think Sproul makes it though. He'll be there over Dumba and Wotherspoon. Hes in a three way battle with Murphy and Corrado

Rielly Hamilton
Ouellet Harrington
Reinhart Corrado/Sproul

Sproul has had what I consider a solid camp, no glaring mistakes and created some chances. Murphy has created a few chances as well but has had some major glaring mistakes. Sprouls also dwarfing his stats in the OHL this season and dwarfs him in general at 6'4. Reinhart Sproul would be awesome size for a bottom pairing and compliment each other perfectly.

Murphy making the team based on his coach coaching it wouldnt surprise me but it will frustrate a lot of Canadian fans

Mrazek and Paterson are both known for their clutchness and competitiveness. My favorite type of goalie :yo:

I'd talk about Sproul on the WJC board but then 37 Canuck fans would tell me to stop hatin' on Corrado

I had a hard time tracking players out there (black numbers on red uuh), but from my narrow view it looked like Sproul had some good physical plays in the D-zone. That's obviously not his M.O. to make the team, but I think plays like that will help his case over a small guy like Murphy.

Still, I think he needs his best game in the camp tomorrow to make it. And maybe appear on the scoresheet.

Of the right handed defencemen, it was really Corrado that catched best way in my eye. The guy just did the right things. Dumba kind of sucked, and Murphy still doesn't convince me. They have guys like Sproul to run the PP. That shot is just something special.

I think Sproul has a shot to TOP6, if they prefer the size more than Corrado brings on the table (6'0 vs. 6'4).

Griffin Reinhart looked as good as locked in the team.

Rielly, Left 6'0 - Hamilton, Right, 6'5
Harrington, Left 6'1- Ouellet, Left 6'1
Reinhart 6'4, Left - Sproul, Right 6'4 / Corrado, Right 6'0

De Haas no points last night. McKee suspended for 2 games after Saturday's 29 PIM game. Found a video of his fight that night, opponent is 6'6/211:

Holy ****! He annihilated him. :amazed:
Yeah, that was pretty bad.

Apparently the USHL record for penalty minutes is 316 (1996-97) and McKee is now at 156 in 17 games. Lets say he misses 1/4 of the games left due to suspensions, he'll play about 30 more games. So, to reach the 316 he only needs ~5 PIM per game :)

But it looks like the USHL will start giving out more suspensions if he keeps getting into fights in every game. This is from the Lincoln blog:
Lincoln will be without the services of defenseman Mike McKee who was once again suspended by the USHL. This time, the league suspended McKee for two games due to his actions this past Saturday night in Lincoln's 4-3 loss to Omaha. I believe McKee's suspension is due to the fighting major he picked up in that Omaha game, which was his sixth fighting major of the season. The USHL is really trying to crack down on fighting this season, and will be handing out suspensions to players who earn a certain amount of fighting majors. I believe the league starts suspending players when they get to six fighting majors. That's my guess, anyway. I could be wrong. Unfortunately, the league doesn't do a very good job explaining why players get suspensions.
