Professor canceled class this morning, so I'm hoping Stevens cancels the night classes. I'm not going in later, that's for sure. Stay inside! Listen to music, read a book, sip hot chocolate... Enjoy the time off. Stay safe.

Elmira NY
I live in Elmira which is between Corning, Ithaca and Binghamton--about a mile and a half up a very steep and curvy hill. Compared to NYC--living in this place is truly the sticks. I used to work nights and mornings and for years and years and years stretching into decades I would come down that ****ing hill--oftentimes at 2 or 3 in the morning with a foot or more of snow and untouched by plow or salt truck and ditches on either side that looked deep enough to swallow my awd vehicle (with me in it) whole--just to get to work--although truly if I really didn't like it I just banged in. It is a simple fact of life upstate--and again when I was a kid we had blizzards multiple times just about every month of winter. I'd be shoveling out driveways piling the snow way way over my head. Truly the winters these days do not compare.

Now I'm retired and I really don't give a **** how much it snows. As long as there is beer (food) in the house it doesn't matter...but...looking at this winter we've hardly gotten anything. It was 50 something degrees Fahrenheit on Christmas day for christ sake. A couple days--a few days at the most and everything will be back to normal. Nothing to really worry about.

Wednesday seems unlikely to me, too.

The Coliseum is about 15-20 minutes drive from my house. It's in Uniondale. The snow is supposed to go through tomorrow night until about midnight, last I read. If you look at the hourly, the snow today changes to freezing rain tonight around 1. That lasts 3-4 hours. That's ice. More snow falls all day tomorrow. The ice will be compounded. The roads, even when cleaned somewhat, will be unsafe all across LI. Even then, I can't exactly say with confidence that the Nassau county tax payers budget for road cleaning will go to Uniondale first... or even in a timely manner. I went during a blizzard to the Coliseum last year. The Isles were playing the Blackhawks. I got the tix for free. The roads from Hempstead into Uniondale and vice versa were horrific. No clean up. Once I got out of Hempstead, cleaning trucks all over.

Hofstra is 2 blocks from there. College students walking and driving around. Many people who drive to the Coliseum have to drive through the main road of Hofstra. I'm sure there will be pressure from school administrators to try and postpone the game until the conditions are even safer than they will be on Wednesday. There will probably be pressure from the county, too. Even if they clean the area around the coliseum, it'll be unsafe most areas around.

Wednesday seems unlikely to me unless a lot of the ice melts. Could happen. I just don't think it's likely.

The Knicks game has been canceled for tonight. Nets game was also canceled.

That is because LIRR, Metro North, and several highways into NYC will all be completely shut down and inoperable.

The Islanders played last year in a snowstorm and their attitude was "If the players can make it then we will play". The game was against the Blackhawks which have been a decent draw the last few years. The team then gave out vouchers for select games later in the season. This has been a Mickey Mouse Organization for the past 20 years so I will be interested in seeing what they do.

Yup, I was there. Free hotdogs and drinks all game. Redeem your ticket stub for vouchers for another game, even if you went.

Roads were awful. Hazard. I have a SUV. It's really good on snow. Going 10 mph, it drifted 3 lanes and nearly into oncoming traffic. Uniondale and Hempstead roads were WOAT.

I didn't have that problem in neighboring towns.

There are so many logistics involved that it will be difficult to find a date. CBA does not permit playing three consecutive night, If you discount tomorrow and Wed, Isles will be playing 36 games in final 72 days and Rangers playing 38 in 72 days.

I looked at both schedules side to side and found only one other date the rest of the way where one team or another would not be playing 3 nights in a row and that is Thursday March 19. That would give the Rangers 4 in 5 nights which is brutal, so I am sure they'd prefer playing Wednesday, so I am assuming they'll shoot for Wednesday with March 19th as contingency in case it isnt doable.

I believe March 19th is the date that the Rangers have put aside in case Casino Night gets snowed out:sarcasm:

Im just PRAYING, I dont lose power. People don't realize how many power lines will go down with this storm, and once they go down, don't expect Con Ed to get there and fix it anytime soon, especially if your not in a high priority area. Some could be without power for 2-5 days.

The snow is supposed to start tapering off at noon tomorrow. It could be snowing until midnight but not nearly as heavy as today/tonight. I'd imagine the roads would be passable by the evening. Still dangerous, but passable.

With the team there already and staying next door, the game can definitely be played. Unless the Isles players themselves have trouble making it to the arena, but apparently reports were that they may stay at the Marriott as well.

I hope it's played tomorrow. I'd still expect a good number of fans to show up, but having a less than full arena will only benefit the Rangers.
