Scary part is, if Babcock was more generous with PP time for Matthews earlier in his career like every other star player, he might have had two Rockets by now already.

He should have won the Rocket in addition to the Calder in his rookie year. 2 goals shy of Crosby that season. With very poor utilization by Babcock.

Well obviously he isn't going to score at this rate all the time. If he has a full healthy season he can probably hit the 60 goal plateau a few time. If he actually develops a good one timer he could probably hit 70.

He already has an amazing one timer. Do you watch him play? He spent an entire off season working on it and it's among the best in the league.

See theres 99.9999% of me who says nope you are so wrong it’s actually funny. But theirs that .0001% of me who sat around watching ovechkin highlights for over an hour knowing that if anyone could get close at all, it would be him. Shame he missed the past couple games, really wanted him to keep the 30+ goals in a row streak alive, but he still might do it if he’s back idk the mans a cyborg or something

Funny thing is I never realized until a few years after how little he was really played. 17:38 total ice time, barely over 2 minutes on the powerplay per game. Still managed to tie for 2nd in goals scored as a 19 year old rookie.

They will cling to the fact it was a shortened season & he's never scored 50.

Even though its quite obvious hes one of/if not the best goal scorer in the NHL and was going to pass 50 last season, they will continue to say "WELL HE ONLY PACES HES NEVER DONE IT!"

Yea, it's unfortunate with these two shortened seasons as rather than 50 and 60 goal seasons, he'll end up with two 40 goal seasons. At least the Rocket will be a nice "consolation"!

Yes, given the whole "pace" thing, McDavid will likely score 32.
