If crossing a ball into the box is all it takes to be considered a chance then there are awhile lot more chances then people give soccer credit for. Again if Pique keeps his arm down like happens 99% of the time Russia isn’t close to scoring. Relying on the opposition making a moronic play isn’t creating a chance in my view.

Did you see Spain’s goal?

"However, if a player’s arm is in an unnatural position, for example outstretched or above their head, then a foul should be awarded whether accidental or not."

Above head or outstretched hand are both penalized the same way.
No, that isn't even what the quote you pasted says. The Argentine's arm is in a natural position and it deflects off of his own head. It's clearly not a penalty. Pique has his arm over his head attempting to take up space and he interferes with a scoring opportunity from the opposition. You ignored or missed the point. The plays aren't comparable and it's obvious.

How is this much different than the Argentina Nigeria penalty that wasn't called. No intention to play the ball with the hand, pique wasn't even facing the ball and it hit his arm.

For the record, I think they're both penalties, but a lot of people in that thread thought the Argentina one wasn't.

This one was an attacker's header hitting the defenders arm. Hence why it was given.

Spain is really unimpressive. All of the quality in their squad and all of this possession, and they are generating very little while looking vulnerable to counterattacks which a better opponent could exploit.

Spain's trying to lull me to sleep. I think they might have lulled themselves to sleep.

This is probably the 2nd worst game of the tournament that I've watched so far.

I’m saying if it wasn’t for his moronic play it might not have been a goal.

Who knows?

Better defenders have tackled better.

Both goals were the result of bad defending.

Not really but to each their own I guess.

Samedov off. He looks like a good guy to share a pint of vodka with.

I wish Dzyuba had more stamina. But with Cheryshev and Smolov the Russian counter attack is more dangerous.
